If you guys haven't seen the movie about his heroic actions (directed by Clint Eastwood), you need to. When SHTF on the train, it is the most badass and patriotic thing I've ever seen.
I borrowed it from a friend 8-12 months ago and it's been sitting on my shelf on my "watch list" since then (my friend is very patient). Maybe now is the time to dust it off and finally watch it.
Unfortunately while that's a big step, it's only the first one and not the biggest. The real problem is getting our fucking GOP reps and senators to actually fucking do something that helps America once they do get the House and Senate. Historically, that challenge has been nearly insurmountable.
Regain the majority and install new leadership (Scalise, Jordan, Meadows, etc). Keep the Senate, re-elect Trump. That's a solid as hell mandate and virtually unstoppable.
It's doable without all of DC spooked over muh Russia and the Original Millwaukie Tool in charge of things. We can't forget that almost everyone fell for the smoke and mirrors. Some were VERY willing to go along with it but others were genuinely fooled.
No reason to go scorched earth. Wins are what's important.
I also wanted to say that a lot of the GOP seats lost in 2018 were RINOs and nevertrumpers. So they may have had to go Democrat to purge then go back to Republican we’ll see
Most of the winning Dem candidates were fake Republicans too. They had to pretend in order to win red districts. Then they did Pelosi's bidding. Gonna be hard for them to walk that back.
Very try true. I don"t remember which state it was, I believe Kansas, several state Senate Rep candidates who got elected switched their party affiliation to Dem right after they got elected.
Underrated comment and very true. Most of the RINOS voted out didn't support Trump and consequently got the boot. There's still some left (Graham, Romney) while others self-employed (Amash).
Outside of Portland and Eugene, Oregon is insanely based. I mean we all know it's a meme that states like NY, IL, MI are right wing outside of their urban shitholes, but in them it's closer to maybe 70/30 R:D. Oregon outside of their leftist enclaves is pushing 90% R.
Our own proximity to PDX Metro does mean that we're more like 60/40 R (fucking Scappoose), but once you get out to counties on the coast or East of the Cascades, it's nothing but beautiful 90/10 MAGA country.
The only reason the state is blue is the imbalance of population. 100% of everyone outside of Portland can vote for Trump, but only 50% of Portland's population is needed to vote for ol' Alzheimers' Bait, and poof, the state stays blue.
Seeing a significant increase in people not wearing the cuck mask and in general not giving a fuck. Could be a great sign.
Not saying OR is actually in play for Trump but he should campaign here because 4 and 5 (or whatever Schrader is) could be open if you look at the primary totals county by county. Lots of Bernie showing up and in general the enthusiasm for Biden is NOT here. Not at all.
That's what I figured but I was thrown off because there doesn't seem to be many around Salem-Eugene. Southern Idaho is starting to look more and more like that though too.
Not from oregon but I would point out, PDX metro is not that populated (1.4 million out of 4 million). All Rs need to do is do slightly better in PDX metro and then do really well in outstate and they have it. Buehler got close.
Fun fact: Obama won your county twice -- in 2016, every precinct went RED
it seems like it's like that pretty much everywhere. Like we might actually have a shot at saving the US if we got rid of the city-dwellers one way or another. Food for thought.
I always found this funny. We grow the food they eat, drive the trucks to fill their grocery store, wield the hammers to build their houses, yet were dumb? It's funny, when the quarantine first started, I saw city folks panicking and buying up all of everything and country folk just going about their business. At that point, if there was a real crisis, I knew exactly who would live and who would die.
Edit: something about 4 wheel drive and country boy can survive?
Lol maybe haha. I'm mostly talking about rich liberals who think they're better than everybody, but we could easily cut off their food supply and starve them out.
In fact, I think the military did a simulation during Obama's term to see what would happen during a civil war and they came to the same conclusion that those aligned with the Republican party have a significant advantage because we control the food supply and essentially, as we've seen with this virus, we hold all the essential jobs.
Republicans are probably healthier on average, more likely to see things realistically, more likely to own guns, more likely to rant to build something rather than tear something apart, more likely to understand individual effort, more likely to hold an essential job, etc. The left would be slaughtered in a civil war, hopefully they know better than to start one.
When Oregon first locked down, the state highway near my (very rural) property began reverberating with the sound of motorcycles, SUVs, and convertibles. Every manbun-wearing hipster and his free-range dog were hiking the logging trails. The hiking part went back to just the established trails after my neighbors (and maybe me, won't say ;) ) decided that this would be a great time to get out to those same logging trails and put holes in paper. Nothing like the sound of ARs, Mosin-Nagants (because they're loud as hell), and various other small arms (heard both near and far) to make the visitors nervous, no?
Apparently the lefties believe that it's cool to take a drive in the country and hike in large numbers while they're telling everyone else to stay home.
Anyhoo, yeah, you'll know it's a real crisis around here when the rural roads and even the hiking trails are choked solid with freshly-felled Douglas Firs, and residents begin patrolling their properties openly armed to keep any now-walking refugees moving along to their alleged destination.
I'm somewhat out in the country in Washington. We have random strangers occasionally show up on our property for various reasons all the time. I generally try to be courteous to them but recently I've started to become more aggressive with them due to it happening so often now. I don't care if there's some obscure deer trail on the edge of my property you unwashed goons, stay the fuck off my property.
Only if you're counting the metro area of both cities. Portland (700k) + Eugene (175k) does not equal more than half of the state's population. We have a chance to make some gains in the state if we're smart about it.
Brown overplayed her hand and the "ubermajority" the Dems have is getting nothing of substance done. Aside from the free abortions thing they passed and signed into law yesterday. It's not ALL about Trump everywhere and all the time it's about getting people to vote down ballot as well. So it's important he makes an effort here for that reason. Not a rally necessarily (that'd be great) but some solid effort.
I honestly think Sam Carpenter might have beat KB dude was pretty slick and she's got literally nothing going for her. Knute ran a milquetose campaign and kept the gloves almost completely on.
Good luck on beating DeFazio, he’s been around forever. Doesn’t DeFazio represent Eugene, Oregon? If so, that’s home to one of the most liberal universities in America.
Make sure your conservative friends and family do too. If 2016 taught us anything, it's that our vote really does matter. Imagine what would have happened if enough blue state Trump supporters in PA, WI, and MI had decided not to bother.
Reagan would have taken 50 states in 1984 if his supporters in Minnesota had exerted a little effort. As it was he fell less than 6000 votes short.
This is a problem in my state. We have students paying out-of-state tuition rates yet voting in our elections. As if they couldn't get absentee ballots from their actual home states.
Our shit is pretty gerrymandered TBH. We're about 50k votes underwater but that's not insurmountable. Defazio has shown himself lately to be a bit of a party puppet showing aggressive support for Pelosi et al on some of her whoppers.
Paint him as a Pelosi stooge and run a good campaign and you can beat him.
I hope so. It’s sad that it’s Portland, Eugene, and Salem urban centers dictate how the entire state should be. Especially when there is such a large rural population in the state, pretty much everywhere except for that Willamette Valley corridor.
Trump has a massive war chest he may bankrupt the DNC. They can't afford to fight him outside the battleground states and it looks like that is what he is doing.
This is absolutely the most important election of our lifetime.
Trump wins, we get a return to normal American values.
Trump loses, and I'm afraid our ship has sailed. Luckily Trump isn't losing to Biden in a trillion years, barring an "obvious voter fraud is obvious" type situation.
I don't think you have to tell anyone on this board (except the shills) to make sure to vote Trump. However, I will remind you all to vote Republican down ballot. We need asses in seats!
ONLY EXCEPTION is if the R is consistently anti-Trump (more than 50%). Otherwise suck it up and punch it red!
Yep. We got way too much on the line. SCOTUS, immigration, not turning the country into a police state with the Wuhan virus. But beyond that - we cannot allow the people who ran the Russia hoax to get back into power. We cannot allow the Andrew McCabe's of the world to ever again be in a position to abuse their authority.
We pull this off, we might cause irreparable damage to the deep state and once again have a government that represents the people.
That would be amazing. Im SO fucking sick of cowardly Republicans who just give up the moment things get tough. The moment a place goes blue, they just write it off and never look back. Everyone better realize that if they keep this up, soon they wont have anywhere else to run off to.
Can't stand him either but he's probably our best chance in the future at the Merkley seat or the Wyden seat when he retires. Unless Chris Dudley wants another bite at the apple. He could roll anybody statewide right now just about.
Knute has (some) statewide appeal. He just ran a lousy campaign against Brown. Just saying I could see him besting Merkley and I don't see the Dems as having a real deep roster right now of folks with mass appeal in OR. Schrader is about it and he wins squeakers in his own district against CPAs.
In terms of the majority, I think so. Here in Oregon its tends to either be antifa fag liberals or rolling coal gun toting conservatives. Not to many people in between. But that could very well have changed. People who don't vote FOR trump but vote against Biden. Lane county and the Portland counties are honestly a super hard fight. We can win. Especially with the left's lower voter turn out. But still hard.
Literally every other county is pretty center right or very much right. I'm in yamhill county and we have a lot of MAGA hats being worn or people praising the hats being worn.
Our margins in 2016 were a lot tighter than OR tho. Hildog won with like 44% of the vote and Gary Johnson/libertarian party got 3x the amount of votes that she beat Trump with. I'm almost certain CO will go Trump in November.
This isn't entirely true. A lot of the leftist influence is from people moving in from other states. Portland metro has grown 10x in population in the last 35 years. We've had Republican Senators and held chambers of Congress since mail-in.
The real problem is that our state party is not very good and some of our county GOPs in the blue areas are just like a group of 60 year olds who meet at a diner or bar somewhere once month or so. Wish I was kidding.
The real problem is that our state party is not very good and some of our county GOPs in the blue areas are just like a group of 60 year olds who meet at a diner or bar somewhere once month or so. Wish I was kidding.
That's what these Western states used to be up until fairly recently. Denver is straight up a cow town that within the last 15ish years bloomed into a significant metro. I'm not sure why it took so long as they're some of the most beautiful and exciting places in the country.
I think both waves started with hippies. After a bunch of hippies move in a city becomes "quirky" and has a "funky vibe" and other sayings that make me want to vomit in my mouth.
I long for the days when it was only hippies, btw.
also remember this is a thread where the republican is the one bragging about how great their turnout was. if anything dem turnout was probably low since it was an incumbant with no real challenger
People like Defazio but he's been running mostly unopposed for a long time (5-6 elections in a row against the same guy). That's a normal spread in his district under those conditions.
Not saying it will flip but it's IN PLAY (within 10 points 6 months out).
Closed primary so that's only going to tell you so much. The 135k votes for Bernie speak volumes IMO because they're only symbolic. Almost as if 10-12% of Dem base is holding Joe hostage for leftist goody list. Won't play well in rest of state!
Was basing hypothetical 10% margin on the fact that Defazio beat Robinson by 15% in 2016 (Trump on the ballot), who Defazio has already beaten in 2014, 2012 and 2010. State GOP not running real candidates against Defazio this guy Robinson seems like a TP retread who did best in 2010 and worse each subsequent rematch.
The partisan index says this is an "even" district so that's mostly what I'm basing this on. We have a LOT of Independents in this state and most of them are somewhat right wing (on guns and taxes mostly). Also, Defazio has been prominent in the background w/ Pelosi and Schumer re: Russiagate, impeachment, etc.
I don't have a magic wand this is all conjecture. Probably not a good use of a ton of party resources but if this Alex Skarlatos is a rising star he deserves the chance to make a good first impression. We have so few solid candidates in OR. Lord knows what Defazio runs on in his own district even aside from "memba me?"
Needs to watch out for mini Babylon itself (Portland). This is going to be their entire state if they let Democrats continue to rule them.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DjzdV0EA_Gs
Clackamas (where all the Section 8 types and other welfare recipeints live)
Washington (home of the illegals-infested city of Hillsburito, and happens to hold Nike HQ.)
You also have Marion County (Salem, OR), and Deschutes County (Bend), with Lane County (Eugene) bringing up the rear part-time, depending on when school is in session there.
Outside of those spots, Liberals generally dare not tread.
We're busting our humps, and we're getting there. Truth be told, our only real obstacle is the Oregon GOP itself, which not only enjoys foot-shooting at every opportunity, but who consistently produces candidates that are worse than RINOs (see also Knute 'I'm a liberal just like you!' Buehler ).
real obstacle is the Oregon GOP itself, which not only enjoys foot-shooting at every opportunity, but who consistently produces candidates that are worse than RINOs
More than likely just luke warm cowards who think they can bring in some of the left leaning people by playing nice to them at least in rhetoric, but this is a completely stupid idea. Doesnt matter how much you dance around and say how youre actually a good liberal, the batshit antifa types are NEVER going to vote for anyone like that. Need to just be an unapologetic republican
You've got the right idea. It's not about policy per se, it's about capitulation. Knute can be pro-choice all he wants, the problem is that it comes across as weak as hell.
We should have recalled Kate Brown already, two recall groups gathered enough signatures, but then the SoS changed the rules last minute so that they had to come from one organization, or some BS like that, and we didn't get it done.
I've slowly started to see MAGA, KAG, Trump stickers and flags more around the area (Central Oregon) but our liberal areas like Portland, Eugene, Bend, Ashland/Medford too I think, are full of very vocal people that don't have a whole lot to do. It is getting bad, more taxes on small business, with the CAT and now statewide Transit Tax....
The place is full of ranchers and cowboys though, and some of us based actual city folk.... I have been praying for this for years!
Depends on what you take in as facts for being "blue." California was the last of the west coast states to vote Democrat. Oregon and Washington first switched to the Democrats in 1988. California stayed with the GOP for one last election and didn't vote Dem until the nineties.
Remember when the governor of Oregon posted a sign on IH-5 warning Californians about not moving to Oregon.
Referring to Oregon’s tourist industry in a 1971 speech, McCall may have first publicly voiced his famous “Come visit, don’t stay” slogan: “I urge them to come and come many, many times to enjoy the beauty of Oregon. But I also ask them, for heaven’s sake, don’t move here to live.”
Imagine not telling your viewers of the impending red wave that's gonna flood the mainland come voting time because of all this draconian lockdown shit
As an Oregonian I really want to see some stuff change in this state. Its crazy that two cities control the whole state, you think that they are a good representation of what the state wants as a whole?
If you guys haven't seen the movie about his heroic actions (directed by Clint Eastwood), you need to. When SHTF on the train, it is the most badass and patriotic thing I've ever seen.
What's the movie called
The 15:17 to Paris
Took me a few minutes to find it myself. I'd never heard of it but Clint Eastwood seems to still make American movies so I want to check it out too.
Even better, is the actual heroes act as themselves in the movie. They are not professional actors ofc, but pretty cool nonetheless.
Can confirm.
The movie is GREAT
Thanks, I've seen of the movie now I had a to watch it
The 15:17 to Paris https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6802308/
I borrowed it from a friend 8-12 months ago and it's been sitting on my shelf on my "watch list" since then (my friend is very patient). Maybe now is the time to dust it off and finally watch it.
Not in oregon its not
According to the Never Trumpers, No.
Incumbent Peter DeFazio has run against the same Republican candidate the last 5 elections. Talk about controlled opposition.
The Trump campaign is targeting Oregon. They must see something.
Unfortunately while that's a big step, it's only the first one and not the biggest. The real problem is getting our fucking GOP reps and senators to actually fucking do something that helps America once they do get the House and Senate. Historically, that challenge has been nearly insurmountable.
Kick out the ones that are not doing their job.

Columbia County checking in to confirm this.

However, with the House seats...
Not at all.
Not exactly your neck of the woods, but why is central Washington all hispanics?
Because California. Certain areas of oregon are similar.
Farm land
^^ this. Same reason Hillsboro, OR is called Hillsburrito (mostly because of the nearby Tualatin Valley and its vineyards).
That's what I figured but I was thrown off because there doesn't seem to be many around Salem-Eugene. Southern Idaho is starting to look more and more like that though too.
Like Yakima? Not sure but a fair number of those are Indians if that's where you're talking about.
I know there's a reservation there but the census data shows a string of hispanic cities in the center of the state: http://racialdotmap.demographics.coopercenter.org/
Do it! This kid is for real!
Not from oregon but I would point out, PDX metro is not that populated (1.4 million out of 4 million). All Rs need to do is do slightly better in PDX metro and then do really well in outstate and they have it. Buehler got close.

When you put it like that it sounds like they're right. You'd have to be stupid to prop up their shitty lifestyles. Maybe they're onto something...

We'll have to drop trees across the roads first.

This is a problem in my state. We have students paying out-of-state tuition rates yet voting in our elections. As if they couldn't get absentee ballots from their actual home states.
Or, if they're voting in both fraudulently.
Fortunately most students don't have the desire or smarts to figure out how to do that.
Our shit is pretty gerrymandered TBH. We're about 50k votes underwater but that's not insurmountable. Defazio has shown himself lately to be a bit of a party puppet showing aggressive support for Pelosi et al on some of her whoppers.

And Trump uses the money efficiently. Cost per vote was lower than Hillary or any of his primary opponents.
Outside of Portland and eugene, Oregon is pretty based. Eastern Oregon is pretty much Idaho
You mean Idaho is pretty much Eastern Eastern Oregon (or West Wyoming).
We hear this a lot, but might be the most important election in our lifetime. America is at a tipping point right now, 4 more years of Trump is vital.
Absolutely. I will do my part. I already requested off for November 3rd and 4th just to watch the MSM meltdown.
Every try reasoning with them? They are deaf... or just really dense.
I have, they just repeat msm rebuttals
I don't think you have to tell anyone on this board (except the shills) to make sure to vote Trump. However, I will remind you all to vote Republican down ballot. We need asses in seats!

Holy fuck he might flip Eugene! Lane county and the portland metro are literally the only reason oregon is blue... if he is on track to flip one...
I gotta tell my buddy to make sure and vote. He lives in Harrisburg
That would be amazing. Im SO fucking sick of cowardly Republicans who just give up the moment things get tough. The moment a place goes blue, they just write it off and never look back. Everyone better realize that if they keep this up, soon they wont have anywhere else to run off to.
Bueller lost in the primary. His stance on gun control pissed off his Bend constituents. Buh Bye.

Oregon Republicans are even bigger simps than normal Republicans. Agree 100% on how we need to fight on "blue" turf. We need to fight everywhere.
I know a bunch of conservative San Diegans who moved to Oregon in the last few years...I wonder if it was part of a larger pattern.
Is it expected that if someone votes Red for president they'll vote down ballot for red congressmen and senators?

I expect to see a 2020 miracle (that we all saw coming 2016)
There are literally Trump 2020 flags everywhere outside of Portland and Eugene. A beautiful sight
he received 66k votes in the republican primary
the incumbant dem had 94k votes in the dem primary.
94k-64k would be a 59-41 shellacking.
when you add in all the votes received by other candidates, it widens in the dem favor since dem won with a lower percentage than the R.
he's got a long way to go before this is poised to flip.
Without knowing the details, a contested primary is going to get more votes than an uncontested primary.
R won 86% of rep vote.
D won 84% of dem vote.
neither were hotly contested
also remember this is a thread where the republican is the one bragging about how great their turnout was. if anything dem turnout was probably low since it was an incumbant with no real challenger
People like Defazio but he's been running mostly unopposed for a long time (5-6 elections in a row against the same guy). That's a normal spread in his district under those conditions.
Not saying it will flip but it's IN PLAY (within 10 points 6 months out).
do you have a source for this?
because if we go by vote totals in the primary, its at least an 18 point gap.

Oregonians should be prepared for a real sloberknocker
Portland Metro eats 3 counties:
You also have Marion County (Salem, OR), and Deschutes County (Bend), with Lane County (Eugene) bringing up the rear part-time, depending on when school is in session there.
Outside of those spots, Liberals generally dare not tread.
We're busting our humps, and we're getting there. Truth be told, our only real obstacle is the Oregon GOP itself, which not only enjoys foot-shooting at every opportunity, but who consistently produces candidates that are worse than RINOs (see also Knute 'I'm a liberal just like you!' Buehler ).
Washington county and Clackamas county both have very red enclaves anywhere they still cut trees for a living, but I guess everywhere does.
Recalling Brown would've been a tremendous waste of time IMO. The threat did some damage alone.
Depends on what you take in as facts for being "blue." California was the last of the west coast states to vote Democrat. Oregon and Washington first switched to the Democrats in 1988. California stayed with the GOP for one last election and didn't vote Dem until the nineties.
Oregon but more specifically Portland are terrorized by a strong Antifa presence.

Liberal shutdown Oregon cities like my Trump hat.
Make Oregon Orange!
Winning the house is a very important thing in my opninion !
Alek for the WIN! Go Alek!
Vote for Alek!!!!!!!
WE ARE RISING UP BROTHERS AND SISTERS
Damn I'm impressed Oregon congrats.
Is the State of Jefferson still a possibility though?
Inevitability.
I see more signs daily.
Everybody knows.
Overcome their doubt and its a win.
On paper it's always possible. I'd say the real chances of that happening are in the teens.
That's not just "because Oregon", it's such a big move that I don't think you'd see it happen anywhere.
Just takes a ton of effort and support
GET OUT AN VOTE PEDES!!!!!!!!
Imagine not telling your viewers of the impending red wave that's gonna flood the mainland come voting time because of all this draconian lockdown shit
Go go Oregon!!
Go man go! Turn Oregon red!
Red Tsunami
As someone who lived for 20 years under defazio, it’s time for him to lose. Poster Democrat
Seems I remember Republicans being blue and democrats red back in the Clinton years? I'm I crazy?
As an Oregonian I really want to see some stuff change in this state. Its crazy that two cities control the whole state, you think that they are a good representation of what the state wants as a whole?
Go Alex!
Hell yeah! Fuck the libs!! We’re coming for ya!
Eastwood probably endorsed the Democrat.
Not to downplay it, but DeFazio still got 25000 more votes in the primary.
Wait, is that Thao Nguyen of Thao and the Get Down Stay Down??
This is cool and all, but "Republican wins Republican Primary" is not exactly an indicator of a red wave.
I predict blue states will arrest “Corona Rule Violators” When they try and vote.
They will try and oppress voters from physically showing up
The virus IS real. It will be used against us.
(Love the downvotes. Just proves commie fucks browse this forum. Protect your 1st and 2nd people or we will all be killed by communists).
