Hope more follow his example. Youtube/Google getting a little too comfortable in their Ministry of Truth role.

Joe Rogan has the most popular podcast in the world. Each episode gets like 5 million views. A lot of normies are about to be start hearing the dirt on YouTube/Google.

There's about to be a big demand for alternate video sites that respect free speech.

Good. Maybe he will realize that all the news about trump is fake

It's happening slowly. Joe Rogan thinks that Biden is a drooling idiot and says so pretty often. He's also said he'll vote for Trump over Biden.

Anyone have a link to what Watson linked to regarding Rogan? I get a 404 when clicking on it from his account.

This may be true, but it's also worth noting that 2020 is after several ad-pocalypses where Gulag/YouTube has essentially halved their incoming ad revenue multiple times due to making the ideological choice to be left-wing moral authoritarians.

I see no reason why a YouTube clone with 2005-2009 era rules that simply tells pearl-clutching leftist corporations/advertisers to get fucked wouldn't be immensely profitable.

Correct. However at least this informs the general public that youtube is not a free and open platform. It's a start.

In the end we need them to either (a) be recognized as publishers and liable for any and all content published or (b) fined for manipulating/blocking free speech. They can't have it both ways as they have it now.

So you're saying they have it both ways.

The big hurdle is the concept of moderation.

cracking down on content to make it more friendly to advertisers

I want you to reread that. Really think this through. As they have not been doing this for "advertisers", at all. That's a facade.

Google has the power to make or break an advertiser. Their user base is their power.

My ad blocker blocks all ads in YouTube, how can you make money if people block the ads?

As I understand it, YouTube actually loses money for Google (no surprise, imagine the server space and bandwidth running a video site takes), but like with most of it's other projects, Google subsidizes it with search revenue.

That being said, these past couple of years, their sales reps have been very aggressive pushing video ads (even though they for the most part are expensive and don't yield as good results as their keyword and display ad products) so that may have changed but for sure a video website without strong monetization is very expensive and resource intensive.

He should invite on Eric Ciaramella, that would complicate things over at YT
