I learned this from a professional landscape designer. She said the overwhelming majority of landscaping designers prefer black as it provides the best backdrop to the plants themselves.
She said you don't want to get the interesting looking or vibrantly colored mulch unless you want people looking at your mulch.
She also said, if you are getting more than ten bags or so, look into a company that specializes in mulch to get it delivered.
Paying by the metric yard can be much cheaper and the stuff is typically of better quality and consistency than the bags at Home Depot. She said she won't touch the stuff at the big box stores as they don't put their stuff through half the processes compared to the company that specializes in it.
Plus the company she used had a big boom with a 4"-6" hose that placed the mulch wherever you wanted it, they basically spray-dropped it between all the bushes and plants. If you have ever done that work by hand you know how much money that is worth.

As a mom, I love when my boys go out skateboarding at the skatepark. They are outside getting fresh air, socializing, and getting exercise. All of these things are great and beat sitting alone in the house on the couch watching TV.
They put caution tape on the swing sets, they can’t really do that on the skate parks so they fill them with mulch so people won’t go there and get death.
But at my (foreign) place, my city council has pretty much stopped "non essential" services like cutting grass since 7 Apr (lots of resultant mosquito and moths every night now, dengue fever rising). Depending on where you are some may have a free flow supply as long as you cut if away yourself.
