I cannot think of any private enterprise that would be allowed to continue if it failed it's most basic task (accurate and timely procurement and delivery) with one of its most prized and sacred items (voter ballots). And that's on top of the fact its been hemorrhaging money for years (decades?) due to severe mismanagement.
So why are taxpayer dollars continuing this farce? Is it possible targeted manipulation of communications/content is one of its unspoken purposes?
EDIT: Another reason? Jobs and their perks of free college, pensions, etc.
I would rather the USPS be a branch of the armed forces, and automated almost to the walls, and then end the monopoly on 1st class mail.
And how about you can get a ballot mailed to you if you want, but you must deliver it in-person to a physical polling place and it is only accepted by a uniformed military person only after a photo ID is presented, and then the ballot is fed into a machine by your own hand.
