My mother had this notion that there were armed soldiers outside that would arrest anyone who didn't wear a mask or came out on the wrong assigned day in our city. I've been going out almost every day and even leaving the house at 1 am to go to the 7-11 that never stopped operating 24/7. I’m all for it being used medically under supervision of a doctor. I am not for it being used to get “high”. Just like I am not for people using alcohol to get drunk. There is a certain point where the consequences of taking a drug outweigh the benefits.
My grandpa was an alcoholic. It was definitely “medical” for him. It was doing terrible damage to his body and almost destroyed his marriage. But the only time he had to go to the hospital for it was when he tried to quit cold turkey. He started having seizures. He had to go through a 2 month rehab program where he was closely monitored in order to safely quit.

CBD is a solid painkiller. THC is just to get giggly off of. I think there's something beyond just tax revenue with this. One of their biggest revenue sources is gas taxes and that all but dried up. I think the left fears the churches because they give people hope and a positive outlook on life. Then on top of that, they reinforce good, traditional values. These are things that drives people away from the left. They want to control where you get information and ideas and they do that through schools and media (controlled indoctrination). I'm agnostic and have never attended church, but my family members do and those are some of the things they get from it.

The 1st amendment applies to Congress, not governors so I think that's out and would probably end up in the courts anyway. I'm curious what legal avenues exist. All I can think of is that he will threaten to cut off funding but that's not a true override. He must have something up his sleeve but I can't think of what.

I've been going out almost every day and even leaving the house at 1 am to go to the 7-11 that never stopped operating 24/7. Took her out with me the other day to show her that everything outside was pretty much normal with people going about their business and no one freaking out and screaming murder if you don't wear a mask.

My grandpa was an alcoholic. It was definitely “medical” for him. It was doing terrible damage to his body and almost destroyed his marriage. But the only time he had to go to the hospital for it was when he tried to quit cold turkey. He started having seizures. He had to go through a 2 month rehab program where he was closely monitored in order to safely quit.

I think there's something beyond just tax revenue with this. One of their biggest revenue sources is gas taxes and that all but dried up. I think the left fears the churches because they give people hope and a positive outlook on life. Then on top of that, they reinforce good, traditional values. These are things that drives people away from the left. They want to control where you get information and ideas and they do that through schools and media (controlled indoctrination). I'm agnostic and have never attended church, but my family members do and those are some of the things they get from it.

It's in Jefferson's personal letters, so an old "founding father" document but not close to anything resembling law.
His letter was to the Danbury Baptist who were concerned about the government interfering with the church. It's not in the Consititution, however FREEDOM of religion is.

It's not just them. All leaders of all institutions are scared to death of leading right now. I'm pretty well aquatinted with a few leader types, and they are all sitting around waiting for someone to tell them to open their business doors. No one wants to make the first move. Some folks in their field are deathly scared and won't open, and the ones that aren't scared don't want to offend their communities by opening too fast.
It's a shitty position to be in, but someone needs to just sack up, take off the masks, and open already.

This was the type of comment I was looking for because I have a question. What would that order be? When I see that Trump will override I'm not sure how. I don't think he can use an EO. The 1st amendment applies to Congress, not governors so I think that's out and would probably end up in the courts anyway. I'm curious what legal avenues exist. All I can think of is that he will threaten to cut off funding but that's not a true override. He must have something up his sleeve but I can't think of what.
