I understand these church’s position here.
Many churches have high populations of those who are most vulnerable to COVID. Additionally, when someone gets sick they tend to rally around one another with visitation and cooking meals and whatnot.
Additionally, many of the folks in churches will think they have some sort of divine protection against this disease (the Bible makes no such claim) while at church so they are more prone to be cavalier in-spite of their age/health based risk factors.
As a pastor or elder, sometimes you need to be the common sense that God didn’t give to some of the congregants.
