IMO, this means one thing only. Sullivan's been caught. Otherwise, he'd just withdraw the amicus order, sign the order dismissing the charge against Flynn, tuck his tail between his legs and have a nice long holiday weekend on the golf course or something like that. A judge never, NEVER hires an attorney to represent themselves in a case, in which they are not a party too.
A judge would hire an attorney if they'd been caught doing something illegal (criminal), or is about to be sued, or has been sued in a civil case, or is in fear of being impeached and losing their pension over judicial misconduct, (reference the infamous penis pump judge in Oklahoma).
They pushed him to double down. The Judge is compromised in some way, his handlers are forcing him to resist by threatening to destroy him.
He's being sacrificed by the left, the have no loyalty and will destroy anyone who doesn't follow orders.
