It is actually counter-productive to have too many regulations. You do realize some areas of the country have almost 100-year old plumbing that regularly breaks and causes harm to people? The reason they don't repair any of it is because of all the regulations in place which make it cost-restrictive for many people. Just look at New York City and the total disregard for infrastructure improvement and renovations. You have buildings that are rotting to the core on every street corner. Yet, it is the most heavily regulated place on earth when it comes to building and construction. Just read Trump's many books including the Art of the Deal where he explains all of this in great detail and the problems he had to face when constructing new buildings.

That’s a big issue in Detroit as well. Part of the reason there are so many abandoned houses is because it’s stupidly expensive to rehab them because of all the regulations on contractors.

and for tax purposes Detroit still values those worthless properties at like 200 grand.

Rent control is a major reason why buildings never get repaired or replaced.

It depends on the Industry. And your blanket statement is pretty stupid. There are plenty of other reasons millenials don't start businesses.

In any event, the silent generation, boomers, and most Gen-Xers never had the career choice of "online influencer" and making yourself a brand without any appreciable skills or talents. The economy is always evolving.

"online influencer" is literally the top 1% of 0.1% of people who actually end up making money, and a lot of times their fame doesn't last. Of course there are quite a few new industries that are still unregulated, but largely the reason why costs are so high, and why things can't be done in this country is precisely over-regulations on newcomers and competitors.
