I think this is all a government overreach.

Should you have been sued? No.

But the concept of modifications being illegal should only exist in sports.

Well the thing is, that 55 gallon drum used to house a chemical that was reactive to heat. You can only do so much scrubbing and cleaning, even if you do everything right something can always go wrong. Typically we just resell them back for industrial use and that the company we sold them to they were going to use them for industrial purposes. So when we were slapped with a investigation from OSHA and EPA as well a lawsuit...yea... fun times. A Liability insurance would have for the most part shielded us and helped pay any fines. So yea....it was a giant ass headache but the value of insurance was taught albeit a harsh lesson.

I know, that can be a harsh reality. I have personal experience on the other end, myself.

In my opinion, when laws become so vast that you need lawyers, there's too many laws (they're trivial rather than principalaic) more or less is a giant flashing sign saying your legal system is broken

The legal system is broken and on the same end, the whole promotion of giant Class Action Lawsuits in the news also help in fermenting a hunt for legal scores. When scummy people see they can make a six figure paycheck for getting hurt on a company's property they will do it. Why because they saw it on the news from a different company having to pay out.

100% agree.

I had a pressure cooker blow up in my face... burned from head to knee. Didn't sue because i thought the company was a good company .. they offered to pay my medical expenses i already had great insurance. Looking back on it the company isn't the greatest and most people call me dumb for not collecting an easy 6 figures

Another guy installed a furnace for me & messed up so bad that we almost died from carbon monoxide poisoning. We did sue in that situation, but guy didn't have insurance... spent more money in legal fees than we collected. Still remained friends with the guy until he died... but... idk ... I'm not a big fan of the legal system
