They moved the goalposts to say the mask prevents your spit from getting on shit thus preventing the virus, which is... technically true... until you realize that wearing this shit for a long time and touching it a bunch actually makes you spread any infection to your face more.
Due to masks, we now have folks at work with the flu. It's totally not because they're touching their faces a shit load more while not being able to wash their hands enough
Agree 100%. My theory is masks make people MORE likely to catch something, not less. The virus can enter our eyes, too. Why aren't they forcing everyone to wear goggles?
Another thing, if masks are so important to prevent the spread of disease, shouldn't everyone wear them every flu season, where 50K+ people die every year?
PPE is a barrier. If you reuse or touch that barrier, you defeated the purpose. Cutting raw chicken while wearing gloves? If you touch the glove AT ALL on the outside you have no contaminated your hands. No problem, just wash them. This is why most restaurants don't really care about gloves but REALLY CARE about washing hands.
That mask? It's collecting not only whats being sucked through it but what you're exhaling. Fighting off a flu but asymptomatic? You're rebreathing that virus. Getting enough of that virus in you is how you actually get sick. If you change the mask every little bit, it's not a problem.
The mask also requires you to touch your face more. If you're not washing your hands BEFORE and AFTER removing/putting on the mask? You're not doing anyone ANY good.
Go get some non toxic ink. Put a few drops on your hand. Put on your mask. Look at your face. You can see how easy it is to spread contamination. Without the mask, would you have put any filth on your face?
The problem is, no one wears them correctly or changes them frequently enough. No one is washing their hands every time the touch the mask. Also, the mask doesn't cover the entire face, so if the virus is on your hands, and you touch your eye, for instance, that's a problem.
What's funny is, until last month, all the "experts" were saying masks did no good for the general public. Then suddenly, they did a 180. No evidence for it, but they suddenly started recommended or forcing all to wear them. This is about control and social engineering, period.
I was one of 2 people qualified to work in the reactor compartment. That contamination is the shit that if it gets on your skin, you're gonna have a bad time. The concept of preventing contamination IS EXACTLY the same except radioactive isotopes can embed and be far more permanent than washing that shit off with dawn.
I'd like to take someone's mask after 2 days of use and set it in a warm environment and see what kinds of mold grow to prove the point. We did a science experiment in 7th grade:
Brush your teeth. Take a swab of your cheek and put it in petri dish. Wait a day and look at how disgusting that shit is. Imagine breathing that shit in repeatedly instead of having it not directly put back into your body?
Don't get me started on the people wearing gloves in stores... they're gonna touch that same shit without the gloves later.

Yeah, that's what is pissing me off about it all.
