1] FUCK THE REST OF THE WORLD THEY CAN KISS MY AMERICAN ASS

2] Since we're talking about the rest of the world and the 2nd Amendment, that's something I've been thinking about recently... And I'm hoping some of you smart people can tell me about how "this is already a field of discourse, and here's the name of it...."

tldr; our ability to have guns was predicated on 1] Americans, for the most part, not wanting to kill each other in vast sectarian bloodbaths, and 2] Americans not being degenerate troglodytes. Mainstream degenerate culture is undermining both of these predicates.

Explanation below, not very important:

I think that other countries can't have guns, in part, because if they did have guns they might have a civil war of some kind. Up until recently, we might have been divided, but we weren't 'take up arms' divided.... I mean obviously other than that one time. Many other countries have ancient enmities which must be suppressed by elites, and doing so would be a significant pain in the ass with an armed populace.

Also, an armed populace must be civilized. If people can't control their base passions, and they have guns, well now you have a bunch of beasts running around with firearms, and no good can come of it. John Addams said it best:

Because We have no Government armed with Power capable of contending with human Passions unbridled by morality and Religion. Avarice, Ambition, Revenge or Galantry, would break the strongest Cords of our Constitution as a Whale goes through a Net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious People. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.

[read the rest, it's short and great]

... But now kids are taught to hate their fellow citizen based on his or her religion, political perspectives, or lack of SJWismo.... Indeed the idea of a "fellow citizen" as being someone with whom you have a special bond is probably not something which would even occur to most young modern American products of public demoralization / ideological-subversion facilities.

A foundation of morality for most people is a belief in God, and this is being derided, eroded, and in some ways even outlawed. MSM is pushing the most degenerate, hateful, violent, incontinent filth seen since the last days of Rome. Both are producing a significant part of the citizenry who are in abject slavery to their primal urges, and really should no more be trusted with a gun than a baboon should be trusted with a hand-grenade.

Why are they hell benton the 2nd ammendment? Because a vibrant, armed populace is a threat to them stealing control. We always have a trump card, beside GEOTUS that is.

I like the big dent in the carpet next to the bible, makes it look like the bible weighs like 200 lbs.

That bible would make a good chest plate, to deflect the slings and arrows of our enemies, in more than one way? 😉

While praying, keep a gun close by at all times. If the devil tries to tempt you, shoot his @ss.

Beautiful image. It is surprising how many Americans choose not to defend themselves. It is also surprising how many many liberals also like guns.

What kind of gun is that top one?

4
Siteless_Vagrant [S] 4 points ago +4 / -0

Sig Sauer M400 "Tread". As in "Don't tread on me". Solid gun, cheap ass charging handle though. Gonna have to replace that.

Thank you sir. I only have a handgun and I want to step my game up.

Haha, it's feels like tin. I'm afraid I'm gonna tear it trying to break the gun down just to clean it. Kinda why I like it though, it's a good "project" gun. Comes with nothing, not even sights/ optics, and some things like the charging handle just need to be replaced, some people don't like the trigger but I think it's ok.

What handguard is that? Looks like Magpul but not sure

2
Siteless_Vagrant [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

Magpull M- Lok AFG. The smaller one, it's mostly used on pistol builds. I like the lower profile, less "snaggy". https://magpul.com/catalog/product/view/id/4660/s/m-lok-afg-angled-fore-grip/category/47/?mp_global_color=118

Zytos 2 points ago +2 / -0

I've never shot a gun before and am interested in a shotgun for home defense. Would a Mossberg 500 pump action be a good place to start?

3
Siteless_Vagrant [S] 3 points ago +3 / -0

Jesus God no. If you've never shot a gun before, go with a smaller caliber, a 9mm would probably be perfect for you. Depending where you are, there might be a shooting range nearby that does rentals, I would recommend going there and trying some firearms out, see what feels good for you, comfort is important.

For home defense, you don't want something very long. Think about how this is going to go. Either the noise wakes you up in time to get up, or you come home to find someone in your home, either way, now you have to clear rooms. Navigate hallways, corners, stairwells, think about your home and how you would have to clear it. If you've got lots of wide open room, maybe a shotgun would work, usually no a great idea though.

Second scenario is you wake up with someone on top of you, beating, cutting, stabbing, w/ ever. You want something close at hand, a round in the chamber and no safety. You may only be able to get one hand free, you can't work most slides on autos like that and forgetting to unlock the safety may cost you precious seconds. Also, in this scenario, a shorter barrel makes less of a handle for an assailant.

Another thing to consider, penetration. Do you live alone? Roomates? kids? an Apartment with thin walls? A house? Think about what happens after you pull the trigger, where and how far does that round go? Generally want something that doesn't go far. You don't want to shoot at an assailant and the bullet go through the wall and hit someone/ something you care about.

I live alone in a house, with narrow but long areas, so the rifle makes sense for me. The .45 stays next to my bedside.

Check out some of the vids on youtube, some pretty good thoughtful info in there for first time owners to consider. I recommend The Warrior Poet Society, he keeps it light and fun with lots of good thoughtful information. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9ZKDGCc5R67fVvLFSv-OLA

Thanks for the detailed response. very helpful. I do live in a smallish house with tight corners, so I wouldn't want to be using an unwieldy weapon and be potentially disarmed. I do have a karambit but with no training, in the event of an intruder.

I live in New York State (not the City thank God) and handgun licensing is a pain in the ass. Shotguns and rifles you can purchase without a license (i.e. a "long gun," meaning barrel over 18"), which was why I was thinking in the shotgun direction.
