If you have the money to drop, they are absolutely worth it... it's like driving a nice sports car... Something else can get you there, but M1A just does it better. I've only ever shot a borrowed one, but it's on my list to buy if my boss gives me a large raise.
I finished my .308 AR just this weekend and I got the buttstock pattern bruised into my shoulder to prove it. The way they tout the recoil management for this particular rifle kinda makes me want it as well. How was it?
Spoken like a red-blooded patriot! Americans have the freedom to say "I'd like to add a small caliber gun to my collection... Maybe an AR15" ... while the rest of the world says "I keep this baseball bat for home defense, but don't tell anyone that I plan to use it as weapon or it will be confiscated"
Oh these are just my Springfield Armory weapons. I also have a Henry .22 lever action, Remington 700 Varmit Laminated and an assortment of Glocks.
Spez: laminated not synthetic. I can’t words.
heavy!
Compare that carpet to a Bernie Bro carpet. I'm telling you, the Sunday Gunday pictures are always in HOMES in every sense of the word.
Help me out. What's up top?
It looks like a short barrel version of the Springfield M1A, possibly the "SOCOM"? And it looks like he swapped out the stock for better ergonomics.
Edit - looks like Springfield makes this beauty straight from their factory! I may need to add this to my collection... https://www.springfield-armory.com/m1a-series-rifles/socom-16-rifles
Very cool but that price tag! Thanks. Had no idea that was a .308.

The recoil is much more manageable than an AR build, and that is mostly because the M1A weighs about 7,842 lbs ;-)
Jezzus. This is all you need right there.
The only thing I'd add is something to plink with for cheap, like a .556 or 9mm. Maybe a shotgun. Smaller edc pistol. Maybe a bolt gun...
