I am only taking a guess here. A 750ml bottle of scotch, vodka or other liquors comes in a standard bottle. But a 1.75L bottle of the same spirits is considerably heavier by comparison, and that bottle has a handle to help lift the bottle and pour.
My own experience with handled bottles was when I attended a Mickey Mantle testimonial dinner with my father when I was 8 years old, and during the night he nearly finished a 1.75 L bottle of Dewars "by the handle".
