Politics has always been a dirty game of lies and fuckery. Always. The Roman Senate kicked it all off by claiming to give "power to the people," yet the senators all got fat and rich while the Roman empire slowly collapsed around them.
The Swiss canton system is the best, IMO. Each canton (district) acts in complete autonomy from the central government, so long as they adhere to the constitution. No government official, elected or otherwise, has any authority to do anything without permission from the canton's citizens. Their governors (or Swiss equivalent) are actual servants of the people, unlike our governors that believe themselves to be emperors.
That's interesting. I don't like the power that the government is granted in their constitution, but that does seem like an interesting form of government. I remember hearing about a survey they had done, and a significant enough percentage of people didn't know who their national leader was since he's not that relevant. That's the way politics should be.
The basic tell is that if this many Democrats all want something as bad as they are agitating for.......historically it hasn't been good for the nation. Every time. The other tell is when there is coordination. Same talking point, sometimes the exact same verbage, other times slight changes. Who writes and disseminates the talking points?

That's why the American system is the best system the world has. It's based on the assumption that bad people will make it positions of power.
