This also has a lot to do with being monocultural and viciously nationalist.

This. You don't keep a 100 year old company going by caring what SJWs think.

(And before I get any inevitable double takes, they made playing cards back then.)

We could learn something from that, although it's probably too late at this point.

Or just smart enough not to buy into bullshit as a herd.

You’re seriously conflating Thailand and Vietnam- mainland Asian countries with literal cultures of corruption and large, exposed, uncontrollable land borders- with Japan?

Japan the Archipelago Otaku of Asia and general fanatical isolationist weirdo whose bureaucrats get off On the mere THOUGHT of being able to get one of their rivals in a corruption probe?

You might want to double check.

The Japanese might underreporting ChiCom flu deaths- indeed, probably are given the whole shame culture- but that can’t overturn how the real number of Japanese COVID deaths is very low.

Edit: previously said “real number of Chinese COVId deaths”, now fixed. I was an idiot.

Why are China's death numbers so hard to believe?

The Wuhan flu is just a flu. That is why Western governments have resorted to counting non-Wuhan flu deaths as Wuhan flu deaths.

It isn't surprising that the Wuhan flu didn't kill many people in China. It isn't killing many people in the West, either.

I'm not saying I trust China, I'm saying the "thing" with the Wuhan flu isn't that it's a "deadly virus". The "thing" is the hysterical overreaction. That is what China wanted to spread to us, and it did.

Why are China's death numbers so hard to believe?

Because their EVERYTHING is hard to believe.

Because the PRC is a totalitarian dictatorship established on tyranny and terror and sustained through pervasive lying about almost everything. Especially mortality. So take the potential for book cooking and pervasive lying we see in US statistics and take them up to eleven.

The Wuhan flu is just a flu. That is why Western governments have resorted to counting non-Wuhan flu deaths as Wuhan flu deaths.

The flu usually claims more lives. Especially in crowded, smog filled industrial hellscapes like Wuhan. The PRC is trying to claim that the entire PRC has fewer deaths than NYC. In spite of nearly a quarter of a year where the Communist Party did nothing or worse than nothing while it spread throughout an insanely dense festival in the insanely dense city of Wuhan, and then used barbaric measures like welding in.

You know what I call their numbers?

Horse crap.

It isn't surprising that the Wuhan flu didn't kill many people in China.

Yes, yes it absolutely is.

It is surprising that we are supposed to believe that Wuhan COVID killed fewer people in the entirety of the tyrannical, smog ridden, life-is-cheap-when-socialism-is-free PRC than in NYC. They make the brothers Cuomo and Kaiser Wilhelm of Noo Yawk look like saints.

It isn’t surprising that it didn’t kill HUGE numbers of people like the Black Death, but it is surprising that immensely dense and generally shithole inland cities that would often view NYC as an affluent suburb or gated community got off better.

It isn't killing many people in the West, either.

Sure. But it is killing people. And by logic it would kill far more people in places like Wuhan.

And all of this was because of a retarded typo I made mixing up the nationalities.

You must be some sort of expert. I've been to all of those nation's you mention multiple times and they have very little in common with one another.

You are very short-sighted if you don't understand that monocultural, nationalist people want to take care of each other instead of participate in what the Democrats created here.

Our multicultural open borders loving overlords created this. Sorry I didn't spell it out for you.

Yeah, they suck to wear. I hate wearing them for hours on end, but they help.

I suspect that the level of handwashing practiced there has been much higher than ours as well.

Very early during the US outbreak (before the CDC had even commented on masks) I did have a Japanese patient who had been in Wuhan and was worried that they might have the disease. The patient came in wearing an n95 and gloves. The patient ended up testing negative for the disease.

Anecdotal at best...... The worst flu I have ever had was while in Japan.
