As a Military Mother, I never forget...

That could have been me. That empty seat at the table could have been ours. That family at the grave could have been us. The Flag could have been mine...

Then I realise: it was. Their loss is mine. That Military Family shared their most cherished treasure with the entire nation; the beauty of their 'Hero, Proved' was a gift to us all, and their loss spreads its ripples far and wide...

America is still America because of their gift, and their loss is ours.

Mine made it home because theirs sacrificed all. On this day, we remember their loss, and the pain that never fails, and the love that never dies, because we are all entertwined in that Greater Love, who laid down Life for his friends...

Never forget.
