My son served in the Marines in Afghanistan. He came home, and works in IT supporting government agencies. We are grateful for brave young men like him, and grateful when they return safely after their service.
My heart breaks for those who lose their children in the service of our country. We mentally envisioned that ourselves many times, as does any parent of a service member. The heartbreaking, searing pain of losing a child is unimaginable.
This is why the casual loss, the ready yielding, of our hard-won freedoms is so very upsetting. Also the unwarranted attacks on the character of President Donald J. Trump. That he is so maligned is also deeply upsetting, and I fervently hope he knows how strongly some of us feel in support.
Please, Mr. President. Bring home ALL our troops. Bring them home now. Not another soldier should die in the endless wars that serve only to enrich the military industrial complex.
