He wasn’t giving legitimacy to the shutdowns. He was giving legitimacy to his shutdown of the border.

I know but that's not what the op was talking about and why he deleted his post. Trump has publicly defended the original lockdowns and that ruffled a few pede's feathers and that what my explination was targeted at. I hope Trump uses this virus plandemic and turns it around to get a ton of stuff done they would have fought him tooth and nail over before. Hell just think of all the stuff he has done to bring back manufactoring from china in an official way that would have been soundly blocked by both sides pre virus. This is why I think he went along with it all to begin with because he had his own plans to take advantage of.

By 'going along' I mean when the govs started the overreach he didn't really push back officially nearly as hard as he could and still defended the lockdowns even as protesters were marching on city halls. He KNEW if he put out suggested lockdown rules that the usual suspects would run with it in a bid to hurt him. I think he knew about this far earlier than january and why the D's are making noises about an after action report(they knew too but unlike Trump they downplayed it). Don't blame him for the deaths though as thats all on cuomo and the states that purposely sent infected to nursing homes to spread the disease as it's coming out it happened in more places than new york. Heads are gonna roll once all this comes fully out and why cuomo is desperately trying to flip the narrative that all his nursing home deaths were due to him following Trump's policy and not his own actions.
