Oh, it is.

Ask your employer for another W-4 and fill it out with 2 extra dependents above yourself. You will pay less throughout the year, but receive less (or almost nothing) in return.

This prevents the government from earning interest on the loan you give them for free.

But that’s not stopping paying taxes, only stops overpayment if taxes 🤔

They still get the full tax rate out of your earnings automatically.

Gonna have to go all cash.

Again, they need the interest on your loan to survive. If the loan is smaller, the amount they can siphon is smaller.

I've been claiming "3" on my taxes forever. If you read through the line items, a single person should pretty much always claim "3".

I've always owed about $500 federally and the state owed me $500, almost every year. One year I got a $15k bonus and had to pay in a few grand, but I almost always break even, through several tax brackets.

People are DUMB and think that claiming zero means you get a fat check at years end like it's some kind of tax loophole. No retards, you overpaid every month and the government is giving it back because they have to. It's like overpaying any bill - imagine paying $500/mo for your $100/mo electric bill and getting a check for $4800 years end and being like "fuck yessssss"! Idiots.

This is how people live because they have no self-restraint. They overpay taxes and get a check and go on a spending spree, rather than just saving their money and spending it.

Again, just THE dumbest.

You guys are getting money back from the government?

Unfortunately it's automatic for a lot of us.

See my other reply. You can minimize the amount the government takes by claiming dependents on your W-4. You won’t owe at the end of the year, you’ll just get a smaller return.

But you're still paying taxes.

Yeah well there's no way to stop. They take it because that's the law.

And if you don't pay your real estate taxes, they magically are entitled to your property. In perpetuity - so owning a home is not a thing. You'll never own anything.

It's all a scam. Freedom doesn't exist.

Some is ok, if we’re being represented by those dollars.
