They think we think the way they do.

They simply do not trust anyone. that's why you can't leave anything up to anyone, and a nice big government will sort everyone out and have no corruption or vice. Robspierre's Republic of Virtue wound up killing a lot of people. Including himself. Napoleon wasn't far behind.
