barr can say he 'agrees' that FISA shouldn't be abused all day long, and democrats would say they agree with that too. 'agreeing' with that doesn't mean SHIT to me.
but i'm replying to someone who is spreading misinfo here by saying that Barr/DOJ came down on the side of trump in this issue with regards to FISA, simply because they called for it to be vetoed too. however if you look into the DOJ's reasoning, it's the exact opposite of Trump's. DOJ is complaining that the senate added provisions in that limit FISA's powers. Trump wants to veto it because he doesn't think the provisions went FAR ENOUGH.
if you can't understand how those two stances are actually NOT in agreement, and in fact, 100% opposing, i can't help you.
but here's a clue- the problem with giving anything like FISA or any governing body or group or court a huge amount of power and authority over 'we the people' is that you CAN'T prevent it from being abused. that's why 'conservative' minded people are always wary of government having those kinds of powers. so the idea of Barr saying 'dont diminish the powers of FISA, keep it like it is, and just trust me that i won't let it get abused while i'm here' is complete fucking bullshit, and just another example of him going out of his way to PROTECT big government and its power. you can't have something like FISA and have it never be abused. an example would be when Admiral Mike Rogers saw that outside contractors were accessing the NSA databases thousands of times, getting info on americans, and he tried to prevent them from doing that by shutting that access down. but guess what? it didn't stop anything. the rats just figured out some other way to get access. THAT'S WHAT THEY DO. the only way to prevent the abuse of power, is to NOT HAVE THAT POWER in the first place. it's real simple.

and barr wants to keep that power in place.
