Lol - lifetime (49 yr) Austinite here and you are not far off. Lakes are all over and nice and you can be in the country hunting / fishing in an hour. Technically, you can be 9,000 ft in the mountains in one day, but that is a 10 hr drive to Cloudcroft, NM, ha!
