Property tax is insane, and everyone just accepts it as normal. By its logic we should be able to tax people every year for the clothes, appliances, furniture, etc that they own.

Elderly citizens have been living in their house for 60 years. Hordes of foreigners arrive, pushing up home values. The local government puts up their property tax. Might give a small senior discount, but for many on a fixed income it means they can't afford to stay, are forced to sell and leave. The home they lived in and cared for is then bought by some Chinese guy who leaves it empty and just wants somewhere safe to keep his money in, or 25 taxi drivers just arrived from Asia move in and really make it difficult for the neighbors by parking their automobiles in the street.
New Hampshire property taxes aren't exactly anything to write home about. Of course the overall tax burden is much less with no state income or general sales tax.
I just left message for school business admin. Asked for last 3 years of our budget, plus how many kids are undocumented or are of documented parents! I'm sure I triggered him w my questions. Hoping he calls back today!

My town in NJ same thing! 1.2 million MORE in tax revenue this year. 70% paid for by residents and the other 30% paid for by businesses!
