You can for sure if you hit the books hard and didn't fuck around. You might still be in your residency, but you would be doctoring in the ER.

Wow! Good for you. I am on the total opposite end of the education spectrum. Got my degree in General Science at 57, graduated from nursing school at 64. I was not only the oldest student in the class, but the oldest to ever graduate from that school. Moral of the story: you can do a lot of things if you keep plugging away at it :)

It was a medical resident, who are technically doctors, but I don't think have their medical license yet.

They do have licenses. They don't have their certification! Med school -> License -> Residency -> Certification.

I met an ER doc in NYC on the tinder

She’s a lunatic who was a side chick for a guy I work with. Yeah, was a fun moment when that truth became apparent.

I briefly considered rooting for the virus.

The New York Times admitted this week the doctor didn’t die and didn’t have coronavirus.

Minor details. On to the next piece of fake news so we can keep the public cowering in fear.

40
DonJr2024 40 points ago +40 / -0

What is so sad is that people read the headline and it gets filed away in their mind as fact.

At this point, when I see an article like "cases spike as x location reopens" I immediately go find the graph of cases for that location and it is nearly always a total lie. Just an outright lie. Or like in the case of Virginia, they had been averaging 1000 cases a day and it "spiked" to 1500, but the day before was 500. So really the average was still 1000.

27
thrakkorzog 27 points ago +27 / -0

7
SPEZ_CUPS_CCP_BALLS 7 points ago +7 / -0

THIS. There will be a headline like "Corona Virus cases nearly double in so and so state as Residents fear for safety"...

And the number of cases went from 27 to 50...

2
DonJr2024 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yup. Doubles one day after being half the usual. Oh and they tripled the testing...

7
MaxineWaters4Prez 7 points ago +7 / -0

So in other words it was 100% a lie. They sure do like to use a lot of words to say something very simple.

The truly scary part is how many times we do not discover it.

Assume the media is lying to you in all cases. Because they are.

Fit the narrative. Liberal media is to NEVER be believed. Good nor bad. The claim that media is important to our society keeping the rules of law and politics in check is a farce. Accountability must be brought to the MSM. The riots in the hood are held up as virtuous exercise against racism. Truth need not matter. What would a similar “spontaneous” reaction directly against the capital of NYTimes and others like them be reported as? Hate? Terrorism?Extremism?

What can be done to stop the liberal propaganda written by these liberal porn purveyors? This is what they are begging for.

We have been invaded by the commies from within. Accountability.

To summarize, a 26 year old with existing medical issues died of something else while infected with Coronavirus was mistaken for a perfectly healthy doctor who didn't die.

How do you mistake a doctor dying instead of a patient? This is why Fake News happens is because all what they do is issue a retraction that nobody sees while the fake story gets plastered everywhere.

1
RollWave 1 point ago +2 / -1

How do you mistake a doctor dying instead of a patient?

???

when doctors get sick, they become patients.

dudes had the same name and were the same age. it's not ridiculous for random dude in hospital to mix them up.

it's careless for nyt to not actually verify the person's identity. But the random employee who saw a dead 26 year old named whatever, and them knowing hey i know a 26 year old named whatever, oh shit hes dead, that sucks - it's really not crazy.

0
pursuitoftruth1776 0 points ago +1 / -1

One was a doctor.

One was a patient.

Pretty hard to confuse the two to me. That would be like not being able to decipher the difference between a tow truck and the car it's towing.

0
RollWave 0 points ago +1 / -1

One was a doctor.

One was a patient.

when doctors get sick, they become patients.

when tow trucks get in a wreck, they become the car that is being towed.

0
pursuitoftruth1776 0 points ago +1 / -1

If a doctor stays a doctor during the whole time and a patient stays a patient the whole time it's pretty easy to tell them apart and those are the details in this specific situation. Why defend fake news who get this stuff "wrong" on a daily basis? If they were legitimate in their correction they would have posted a new story addressing the correction. This story was the basis many outlets utilized to drive fear. Liberty Hangout (not Kaitlyn) being one of them.

1
RollWave 1 point ago +1 / -0

If a doctor stays a doctor during the whole time

the random hospital employee who was interviewed didn't know this. All he knew was that at some point in the past there was a doctor with that name and age. And he knew that today a person with that same name/age died as a patient. He was wrong, but it's not ridiculous for him to think that it was the person he knew who got sick. doctors get sick. and its not like the dude was a family member or something that he kept tabs on regularly.

and i'm absolutely not defending fake news. if you had actually read my post I said explicitly that it was careless for nyt not to actually verify the person's identity.

I'm only referring to 1 person that was interviewed as part of the story. for that 1 witness, this is a completely reasonable mistake.

you think that random hospital employee is part of the media conspiracy? lol. he's not.

0
pursuitoftruth1776 0 points ago +1 / -1

random hospital employee

Is iffy. He looks shifty. But in all seriousness; the way they handled any correction was wrong; any correction to a story that undergoes a massive change should be given the same attention as the original story to try to rectify the mistake especially when it was utilized as the basis to stroke fear.

ivan_iii_of_russia 4 points ago +4 / -0

This isn’t incompetence, this is malicious and deliberate lying. Let’s keep track of their lies so far:

Filled Covid testing lines with fake people

Claimed Trump is responsible for “spike” in calls related to intoxication even though they’ve been up since March.

The Hydroxychloroquine woman who downed fish tank cleaner

Only putting on masks for the camera even when the cameraman isn’t wearing a mask.

Used pictures from Italy and acted like they were from United States.

Claimed Pence is carrying empty boxes of PPE. Complete lie.

Using misleading pictures of people on beaches which are shot at a low angle to make it seem like people are a lot closer than they actually are.

Claiming that South Korea has done more tests per capita than US only to be destroyed by Birx.

And now this.

This type of patterned publishing of “news” that ends up being completely false needs to be fined and penalized. Put the onus on publishers to verify stories before exposing stories to their millions of followers.

3
SisterCovfefe 3 points ago +3 / -0

So it was a case of mistaken identity but no one at the Times thought to call the man's family/friends to verify and get a pithy quote.
