The knee on the neck wasn’t the killer. The weight on his back and chest by the other cops is what made it harder to breath. I guarantee he was also having a medical episode and the cops made it worse.
If you watch the video of his arrest, he could hardly walk or keep his head up even when sitting down. Dude made some bad choices and the police technique of smothering an individual with multiple men to prevent harm is actually causing people to have trouble breathing. It’s a bad combo and will have to be looked at to mitigate the same thing from happening in the future.
One on one leads to weapons being used. Too many on one leads to a smothering.
Not sure what is best, but a new tactic will have to be adopted so criminals aren’t killed when the resist arrest.
What other cops putting pressure on his back and chest? Sorry, but the guy was cuffed. If you need to kill a guy in cuffs to apprehend him, you shouldn't be a cop.
If you tolerate this against people who don't look like you, it will only be a matter of time before there's nobody to help when they come for you.
I saw more than you apparently. The original arrest was on the other side of the road. Also, 3 other cops were part of the pinning to the ground. The pressure on his back and chest was the culprit.
Don’t be an emotional idiot . He resisted when they went to the second awaiting cop car and that’s when he was taken to the ground. The technique of using many men to smother a suspect is what needs to change.
If you have evidence of a crime and don’t report it you are enabling criminality. So if you know something you should immediately report it to the detective investigating this.
If you are just playing internet judge and jury with no respect for our right to the presumption of innocence than kindly fuck off.
If Ia person can't breathe it's a natural reaction to struggle, drugged up or not. That struggling is now resisting arrest. It's not a good situation all around however you know how I avoid a violent altercation with the police. I don't break the law. Funny how that has seemed to work out for me. Odd!
Not sure about MN, but cops around the country have been taught about "positional asphyxia." It can be caused by simply being face down on the ground and being unable to make your lungs work effectively. It doesn't even require a cop to be sitting on your back to occur. If a suspect just got done fighting or running from a cop and is left on the ground face down and handcuffed, they can asphyxiate all on their own. So officers are supposed to be trained to quickly get them off of their stomach and into at least a seated position. This has been common knowledge in the LE community for YEARS.
I agree the twitching and fighting when you’re having trouble breathing is a normal reaction. It’s a huge part of the problem with the technique of smothering a suspect instead of tasing or thumping their skull with the night stick.
He wasn’t taken to the ground until he resisted getting into the awaiting cop car. There is a video out of the arrest which went smoothly and the ensuing struggle to be put in the suv on the opposite side of the road.
Thing is, after Rodney king they changed the way they apprehend suspects from blunt force to having a group of officers try and limit a suspects movement. It just so happens that the technique leads to difficulty in breathing as 3 or 4 men are pushing you down to the ground.
This newer method has its caveats as well, but the bottom line is shit happens when you’re being detained, but fight back. If homeboy OD’d, the cops won’t see any retribution beyond being fired. The fact that they were a part of the death by not noticing he was having a medical episode is something that needs to change.
Seriously though, we aren’t going to stop arresting criminals to prevent the worst things that can happen during an arrest. Taser isn’t that great, knight stick was too abusive, smothering is a problem and using their guns is frowned upon. Either we find a better way to stop criminals from resisting arrest or accept there will be very bad incidents such as this.
If you have evidence of a crime and don’t report it you are enabling criminality. So if you know something you should immediately report it to the detective investigating this.
The knee on his neck likely caused a partial airway obstruction, the knee on his back, positional asphyxiation - every time you exhale, your chest cavity get smaller, each breath moves less & less air...until you die.
Klobuchar decried in a statement that “another horrifying and gutwrenching instance of an African American man dying,” she said in part without making a single mention of law enforcement’s role in the killing. But it was the last part of her statement that may have raised some eyebrows:
“There needs to be a thorough outside investigation into what occurred, and those involved in this incident must be held accountable. Justice must be served for this man and his family, justice must be served for our community, and justice must be served for our country.”
Ooop Amy is cancelled. Won't matter though, torPEDOJoe could ass fuck a 8 year old black boy and the press and the left would cover for him. Say what you want about Sanders supporters, at least they see that jerk for what he is.
Did you know that in the incident from 2006 that a grand jury no billed Chauvin in an obvious case of self defense? The suspect stabbed his girlfriend and a male friend, lead the police on a felony evasion car chase, and then pointed a shotgun at the cops. He was shot and killed by six officers. Chauvin was no billed by a grand jury. Klobuchar had no authority to prosecute.
The funny thing about this fake news story is that it's the leftists pushing this fake news story. They're eating their own.
About a year after my residency I had a case where I had to do a psych evaluation on an officer that kept “getting into fights” and killing people at bars and such using hand to hand combat. He was a black belt in 2 disciplines and had military and police training. He was baiting people into hitting him at bars and he’d end up killing them in “self defense”.
I eval’d him, determined he was a full blown psychopath (serial killer by definition) and he would keep killing. Someone at the court fucked up and he got his hands on it and saw my report and notes and conclusion and everything before the arrest. He up and disappeared and to my knowledge still hasn’t been found. That’s freaky. So these types are def out there.
"Protect your own" is a foundational aspect of our species. It has helped us more times than not, but is also capable of harboring rot that should be excised.
loose cannon? The suspect from 2006 stabbed his girlfriend and a male friend, lead the police on a felony evasion car chase, and once captured, pointed a shotgun at the police. He was shot and killed by six officers. Here's the key point. He was no billed by a grand jury for an obvious case of self defense. Klobuchar had no authority to prosecute. It's called the 5th amendment. This is a fake news story, and the funny part is that it's being sourced by the commie leftists. They're eating their own on this on.
The man Chauvin killed stabbed his girlfriend and a male friend, evaded police in a car chase, and reportedly threatened the officers with a shotgun. Multiple officers fired on him and killed him. Based only on that, we're supposed to believe Kobuchar should have prosecuted him? Really? He's a scumbag murdering pig for killing Floyd, but if you want to taint Klobochar, you're going to need more than that.
Out of the hundreds of comments I have read on this story this one makes the most sense. I hate it when Conservatives act like leftist keyboard judge and jury and promote mob justice. WE are supposed to be the logical, rational adults in the room. I wish Pedes would remember that when they let their emotions control them.
I would hope the investigators would actually examine all of the evidence instead of being morons who saw a video and decided to convict, but most people are extremely stupid so there's no guarantees of that anymore.
Not a democrat, I just know fake news when I see it and actually took the time to look it up. The funny part is that it's the leftists that are promoting this fake news story. They're smearing their own with their own fake news feces.
The grand jury no billed Chauvin in 2006. Klobuchar had no authority to prosecute!
Seems like a potentially biased article without enough sources to support what they're claiming. Entirely possible his previous shootings were justified, though it doesn't bode well for him.
The source for this fake news are leftists like the Gravel Institute. They're eating their own on this one. Chauvin was no billed by a grand jury in 2006. Klobuchar had no authority to prosecute.
I watched the videos today. Chauvin had no cause to do what he did to Floyd, and was screaming "get up and get in the car!" while holding Floyd down with his knee. That's at least manslaughter with reckless disregard for human life. The other officers are accessories. Whatever the routers do, these cops need to be prosecuted, and Chauvin should be charged with manslaughter and murder in the first degree because he has done this before and probably takes pleasure in killing, so arguably he knew he was killing Floyd.
The routers should surround the police headquarters and demand charges.
Please don't take this as a defense for the cop, because it's not. But don't expect much out of a prosecution. If he gets a good lawyer team, and I'm sure he will, he's going to have a lot of ammo for his his defense. First, proving 1st degree M will mean they have to prove to a jury of 12 (beyond a shadow of a doubt) that he was holding Floyd down in order to end his life. They won't be able to prove that.
Now Chauvin will say that he was just maintaining control of a suspect like he's been taught and trained to do since the academy. He's made hundreds of arrests and had to hold arrestees on the ground, face-down, many times in the past and none of those people had any complications. So he'll say how could I know that anything different was going on with Floyd because a lot of suspects I arrest say they can't breathe. It's often a ploy to get officers to let up on their guard. Chauvin will also say that there was a lot of activity going on around him and his attention was focused on keeping a close watch on them and not on Floyd. He'll say he was unaware of the Floyd's condition due to those distractions AND potential threats to his safety. Chauvin will have experts in police tactics and procedures who will come in and testify on his behalf and they can be very effective with a jury.
The prosecution will try to get Chauvin's complaint and work background into evidence, but it may or may not be allowed in. The Feds will go after him for a US Code 1983 violation, but their success will depend on how the local prosecutor's case went. I think it's 50/50 if he gets convicted of anything. The odds go way up if the case gets moved to another place where there will be more favorable jury pools. Expect that to happen.
If you noticed, he asked for “water,,,or something”. This is what makes me think he was ODing from the mix of drugs, physical exhaustion and being pinned down. Cops are taught to recognize certain situations like these, but in the end they are not doctors.
The knee on the neck was nasty and unnecessary, but it isn’t what killed the man.
Also, he died later and not on the scene. That means he was only unconscious as opposed to dead.
How is a cop supposed to notice these things when he has several potentially life threatening bystanders yelling at him and trying to interfere with the arrest? Obama enabled the mass hysteria we are seeing. The mass disrespect for police while making an arrest. We have seen hundreds of videos showing this.
IDK how they are supposed to do their job under these conditions.
I am also extremely concerned with cops carrying out blatantly unconstitutional orders.
It’s funny, if we invented a new tool to apprehend suspects that resist, it could be used at will on anyone at any time. Like a sci-fi movie where the person is frozen in time or some shit. It would be non lethal, but totally subject to misuse.
We need to work on finding methods that work from an officers standpoint because we all know criminals aren’t willing to comply. The alternative is just don’t apprehend anyone for anything and let people deal with being robbed, raped or otherwise by Obama’s sons.
This article claims that he killed before but I couldn’t find his name on the list that comes up when you follow the link they provide as evidence. Am I missing something?
Yeah, he was no billed by a grand jury in 2006. A suspect stabbed his girlfriend and a male friend, lead the policy on a felony evasion car chase, and when he was finally cornered, he pointed a shotgun at the police. He was shot and killed by six officers, and the grand jury no billed at least Chauvin. The key point to this fake news story is that Klobuchar had no authority to prosecute. The other key point is that it's the leftists sourcing this fake news story. For example the Gravel Institute was cited by The Gateway Pundit as a source. It's the leftists that are smearing their own fake news feces on the commie darling.
It's a decision by the grand jury to not prosecute, a finding of insufficient evidence for an indictment. It means dismissal of charges and a release of the prisoner if the person is in jail. The right to a grand jury is a principal part of the 5th amendment, and protects you against exactly this kind of political prosecution. It's not incorporated against the states though, and you don't have that right in all states. Just ask the guy who shot Trevon Martin.
It's a very dangerous and usually leftist position that publicly elected prosecutors should be obligated to lead the mob in politically motivated prosecutions. The grand jury protects us from that, and for prosecutors like Klobuchar, it protects them too from this kind of mob rule complaint. It's dangerous. It's leftist, and as usual, the leftists are responsible for this fake news accusation. We shouldn't pick up that leftist mob rule mentality here.
You're welcome, and btw, I just learned that the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office has put out a statement on this story that it was actually Mike Freeman who made the prosecutor decisions on this case, not Klobuchar. The grand jury decision was 10/25/07, and Klobuchar took her senate seat just shortly thereafter. Freeman is still the prosecutor and will be making decisions on the Floyd case. Fake news in its entirety!
Uhm, look it up. He was no billed by a grand jury in 2006. Klobuchar had no authority to prosecute. This is a leftist fake news story smearing their own.

3 other cops were on his back. Another angle shows it clearly.
Again, the technique they teach cops of using many men to smother a suspect is what killed the man. Just like Garner in New York.
I don’t tolerate this nonsense.
Also, funny thing, if you don’t commit felonies and resist being taken to jail you don’t have a problem with the cops.
I saw more than you apparently. The original arrest was on the other side of the road. Also, 3 other cops were part of the pinning to the ground. The pressure on his back and chest was the culprit.

What if everyone was microchipped and a cop could just turn off your chip?
If you have evidence of a crime and don’t report it you are enabling criminality. So if you know something you should immediately report it to the detective investigating this.
The knee on his neck likely caused a partial airway obstruction, the knee on his back, positional asphyxiation - every time you exhale, your chest cavity get smaller, each breath moves less & less air...until you die.
Add in the drugs and physical exhaustion and it’s a recipe for death.
Amy Klobuchar, Who ‘Didn’t Prosecute Controversial Police Killings,’ Demands Justice For George Floyd

Seems like a very fortunate convenience, at least.

Didn't really need that. But it helps.
I think in order for us to get more black votes we have to play this retarded game. I'm not a fan. Wait for the coroner at least.

Yeah I don't know if people are trying to get on their good side or what. Facts are facts. Wait for the evidence.
Only a cuck would try to convict someone without having all of the evidence that they could get. The cuck life is a hard one, I've heard.
I would hope the investigators would actually examine all of the evidence instead of being morons who saw a video and decided to convict, but most people are extremely stupid so there's no guarantees of that anymore.

Yep, figured that out later. They are eating their own, aren't they.
Leftists are authoritarians
She is way more corrupt than even most Minnesotans know. Media has hid it for years and she did much more like this as prosecutor
Seems like a potentially biased article without enough sources to support what they're claiming. Entirely possible his previous shootings were justified, though it doesn't bode well for him.

Mob justice. Just brilliant. FFS
I understand when a cop has one partner for a stop but it’s usually at least 6/1. The police can’t stop crime. They are only there for damage control.
More proof we are in a simulation.
