These rioters and looters are unwilling to let the legal system take its course. Or at least that is their excuse. This situation regarding riots brings to mind a method of riot quelling in the days following Dr. King's death.
Mayor Richard J. Daley (The Old Man -- not the son) identified rioters as arsonists and thus "potential murderers". On that basis, he issued an order for the police to "shoot to kill" or "shoot to maim". It's a matter of historical record. I was a little girl at the time, but as I recall, the rioting did not last long because of this order.
I do not think this modern method of allowing them to tantrum looting and burning at will yields positive results.
Because the demonstrators and joggers are weak when either alone or called out on their BS they coward. I don't feel citizens should ever be fired upon but history as shown us that these riots can only be dealt with one way. Look up the Newark NJ riots of 1967. As soon as word got out that rioters were being thrown off roofs it ended rather quickly.
Spez (You horn blower) edit - The city has never recovered even this many years later. Yes politicians ruin things and they weren't favorable to the community at that time, but burning the place down just makes people blame you more for the cause.
