This. What happened was, as James says, disgusting; but lets not make the victim out to be some saint when evidence suggests otherwise. The police were there for a reason. Unfortunately you can't also then follow up with "but his death was completely unwarranted" without the media conveniently omitting that last bit.
That's debatable and not really immediately material without seeing the full video and scene. I've yet to see a full video.
Whether or not you, if you do opt to restrain someone then you have to make sure they can breath even more so if by the neck.
In this case both the victim and a bi-stander make it clear there's a problem and the cop completely ignores it. There's no excuse for that even if people often say that when it's not true. You can't adhere to the boy who cried wolf. Imagine one person makes a fake report to 911 reporting respiratory distress so the operator dismisses all subsequent calls, it doesn't work like that.
It's possible the restraint was excessive in the first place but what I've seen in the video that's not the fatal mistake.
After being informed multiple times the officer does bugger all to check and readjust. After the victim appears to pass out he doesn't seem to even notice for quite sometime. It looks to me as well like he's putting his full weight or a lot of it which you can't not be conscious off.
The bits and pieces of videos I have seen so far are confusing. Walking him around then having him on the floor. I don't understand why there is so much time wasting and faffing around when they can just put him in their car. Why pin him to the ground and why for so long?
He is in completely the wrong posture to restrain someone with the knee like that for controlled force. He might as well have just sat/stood on him. He looks like a total retard.
If I'm not mistaken he's asking if the victim will get in the car and the victim says he will but the cop is still sitting on him that's fucked up.
spez/ downvotes are ridiculous. A police officer is going to encounter people that are FUCKED UP out of their minds. that doesn't mean they deserve to be slowly strangled to death. IF that is indeed what happened.
I didn't say it wasn't a factor, but police are supposed protect and serve. It sounds ridiculous to say we tried to get him in the car for ten minutes and we couldn't so we strangled him for eight. And not being able to get him in the car seems to be that he was just falling on the ground not wanting to get in. if this guy was running around with a machete that's one thing. I support police but I've seen enough of them on a power trip over minor shit to know it's a bad thing. for everyone.
I am not defending the actions of the cops in this, but have you fought someone non stop for ten mins? It will exhaust you very quickly. UFC fights are 3 five min rounds with a one min break in-between, I have seen people gas out in the first round.
Four cops were not physicallyfighting him for ten minutes. Did you see any guns drawn? He was not being violent. Being difficult does not equal violence.
Dude, it's cops versus one single man. It wasn't a street fight, it was the guy being resistant to getting into a car for ten minutes. I work in direct care for the mentally retarded and have to routinely do takedowns on our more violent men. Sometimes, I've held someone down for twenty minutes (our policy to only hold for no longer than twenty minutes), let them back up only for them to act violent towards me again, back to the ground. Longest time I've gone thru these twenty minute cycles for is a straight two and a half hours.
No excuse for these cops. Also, the cop in question has a looooonnngggg rap sheet of excessive force and police brutality. Fuck that guy.
The left doesn't need to stage or fake it though. It's a big country, millions of people, sometimes things will happen.
News papers report 0.000000001% of everything that happens. You just report only on one thing. Deaths such as this one are extremely rare and they'll only cover it heavily if it has some "juicy" element such as it happens to be white on black.
The scene is so unbelievable though that it's hard to understand such as how can the cop be so stupid to not let off a bit or check things out when the suspect is clearly conked out.
Yea bro. Everytime you talk about how terrible something like this is and then shine a light on the media making saints out of criminals, you're accused of durrr racism. I think it shows the level of intellect we're up against. Everything has to be 100 percent black and white for them, in more ways than one.
While I agree the circumstances are very chaotic. People surrounding a cop in the midst of an arrest put them in a state of hyper vigilance. He was placed wrong on the suspect and had to remain there to in that position to protect himself from retaliation. The people filming and approaching are as guilt of murdering him as is the cop for his poor decision making.
hmm, so this is a hit job to keep Klobuchar off the VP ticket. Biden has dementia so the next president, according to dems, is going to be Biden's VP pick and they don't want a prosecutor like Klobuchar. hmm.
I don't know if he was a decent man or not, but otherwise I agree 100% with Woods. Everyone is rightly outraged. As Tim Pool said it's telling that the officers were fired immediately, not suspended pending investigation, and that was the right thing for the department to do.
Rioting is uncalled for. The people responsible for this have already lost their jobs and will probably face jail too. The authorities have not turned a blind eye to this case and are taking proper action, so let them work and don't go looting stores like an animal.
I just wish the political situation weren't so vicious that we could come together and mourn this needless death, and pursue truth and justice. We can't. That is the most upsetting thing about this.
Instead, the left is doing what they always do: blaming the entire country and everything she stands for, and holding all white people culpable. We can't even come together during a pandemic, let alone the first actual case of police brutality since the inception of BLM.
How the hell can this country survive discord that is this deeply entrenched? The left hates us. They hate us. They despise us. Everything we are, everything we stand for, is anathema to them, and they want us dead, and our children dead, and our spouses dead. Dead.
maybe James is trying to deflect some of the exaggerated anger and violence being expressed and blamed on the pedes ? .....but 'decent man' ffs, try working in LE and dealing with the venom.....shit happens
My heart goes out to George Floyd and his family but honestly, I'm a little more concerned at this point that my home city is being burned, looted and gutted in the midst of a pandemic that caused an economic depression. I felt more sympathy two days ago, not really tonight.
They don't, and he won't be charged or convicted of 1st degree murder regardless. Most likely he will face a manslaughter charge, which should result in an easy conviction given the video evidence.
None of those thing mentioned deserve having your 5th amendment right to due process violated. We don't make exception to the Constitution determined by worth to society.
Cuck out? Did you even watch the video? The perp was prone on the ground. You don't put your knee into his carotid artery and cut off blood flow to brain. This isn't a cuck out and if you think that you can fuck right off outta here.
The carotid artery? You can cut it off from the back of the neck and the person still be able to talk? More likely it’s something to do with blood pressure exacerbated by drugs and resisting arrest.
I did 7 1/2 years in military police. Deployed twice. I am aware of use of force, handcuffing and searching, etc. What is your background in Law enforcement?
It's almost like the full video can supply proper context. Already the full video along with statements put out by firefighters from the Minneapolis Fire Dept. shows that the initial story isn't entirely accurate. Floyd was barely handled by the police and was apparently having medical problems BEFORE he ended up on the ground.
The full video of the Arbery killing shows that Arbery assaulted the guy who eventually shot him and wasn't "ambushed while jogging" as the original story said. Nevermind that the media and the race grievance industry have lied about these sorts of incidents more than once. Mike "Gentle Giant" Brown, Saint Skittles, Rodney King, etc.
The only part was the assumption that his was a decent person (evidence is piling up that he was not), that said the cops are not supposed to choke a handcuffed man to death for 7+ minutes.
Decent man? Why was he on the ground? An angel fallen from heaven?
This. What happened was, as James says, disgusting; but lets not make the victim out to be some saint when evidence suggests otherwise. The police were there for a reason. At one point a spectator said, "Just put him in the car."
The other officer replied, "We tried to do that for ten minutes."
Oh wow ten minutes. So fucking what.
spez/ downvotes are ridiculous. A police officer is going to encounter people that are FUCKED UP out of their minds. that doesn't mean they deserve to be slowly strangled to death. IF that is indeed what happened.
Its matters and is an important factor and no I still don't think a 7+ minute neck hold was valid in any way.
I didn't say it wasn't a factor, but police are supposed protect and serve. It sounds ridiculous to say we tried to get him in the car for ten minutes and we couldn't so we strangled him for eight. "We tried to get in the car for ten minutes but couldn't...now what?"
"Fuck it, let's kill him."
This.
Do you know why this is happening?? Bc police is on testosteron and are recruited gammas who are getting offended and scared of everything.
Alphas whould never kill a guy this way only dick measuring gammas are so vicious and fragile.
The left doesn't need to stage or fake it though. It's a big country, millions of people, sometimes things will happen.

Whether the crime was serious or not is completely immaterial.

hog tied, maybe, cuff, no. Even then he can spit, always a threat.
Innocent until PROVEN guilty.
Yeah, he could have left that part out.
Klobuchar let this cop off in another case years ago even though he already had 10 complaints against him when she tried his case.
hmm, so this is a hit job to keep Klobuchar off the VP ticket. Biden has dementia so the next president, according to dems, is going to be Biden's VP pick and they don't want a prosecutor like Klobuchar. hmm.
There it is. He's just another agent of chaos meant to disrupt the news cycle and our country. My bet is he is a paid agent of the deep state.
I don't know if he was a decent man or not, but otherwise I agree 100% with Woods. Everyone is rightly outraged. As Tim Pool said it's telling that the officers were fired immediately, not suspended pending investigation, and that was the right thing for the department to do.

He was put in jail for a home invasion where he threatened a woman with a gun and then ransacked her house for cash and drugs.
...but he was also "turning his life around" at the time of his death.
So I guess you could say he was trying to become a decent person? But he was still using forged notes (allegedly).
I dunno.
Another gentle giant.
And 4x Fentanyl in his system. So maybe not so much a life turnaround, more of a burning wreck in a ditch.
maybe James is trying to deflect some of the exaggerated anger and violence being expressed and blamed on the pedes ? .....but 'decent man' ffs, try working in LE and dealing with the venom.....shit happens

Fantastic argument. My mind is blown.
Wasnt this guy passing bad checks?
If convicted, I do hope Minnesota has the death penalty. This is a good case for it.
Maybe they could send him to a nursing home. Death penalty 85% for the inhabitants thanks to giv Whitmer.
They don't, and he won't be charged or convicted of 1st degree murder regardless. Most likely he will face a manslaughter charge, which should result in an easy conviction given the video evidence.
Derek Chauvin is clearly a piece of shit that doesn't deserve to live. Apparently he fired at some guy at close range back in '08.
He'll be living in fear for his life
None of those thing mentioned deserve having your 5th amendment right to due process violated. We don't make exception to the Constitution determined by worth to society.
My goodness, you are literally too stupid to insult.

His knee didn't appear to be in the right position to block the artery.
I did 7 1/2 years in military police. Deployed twice. I am aware of use of force, handcuffing and searching, etc. What is your background in Law enforcement?
that's just the ghettos for you.. full of criminals, thugs, gangsters, hoodrats, and hookers... looting is just a pasttime for them.
Nobody gives a fuck about how many fucks you give. This is about what's right and wrong, not about what you think.
And let's see the whole video before we starting chimping out about who's right and who's wrong.
It's almost like the full video can supply proper context. Already the full video along with statements put out by firefighters from the Minneapolis Fire Dept. shows that the initial story isn't entirely accurate. Shill, retard, or both.
The only part was the assumption that his was a decent person (evidence is piling up that he was not), that said the cops are not supposed to choke a handcuffed man to death for 7+ minutes.
who was it that said "if you have enough run-ins with the cops eventually you're going to end up dead"?
Your point being?
I didn't know George Floyd was trying to kill somebody. How do you know that? Do you have access to information that we don't?
