Most Hispanics are not even Caucasian. Outside of a few countries like Uruguay and Argentina, which have European populations roughly the size of America's, Hispanics are predominantly Native American, African, or mixed race. Mexico, for example, has a very small European-descended population - the overwhelming majority are mixed race or pure blooded Native American. This majority can't magically become White by speaking proper English and obeying our laws (though it would certainly be nice if they did so).

I can't tell myself "you're brown Alex, not white" when 80% of my body is pale light skin. I am not anything like the people who can't speak English and disobey our laws. I was born here, I grew up in Christian private schools, English is my first language, my skin is light, I'm 6ft tall..I simply can't force myself to call myself brown or latino or Mexican.
