A good amount I bet. I think another issue is the heavy militarization of the police force. We have so much military surplus that gets sold to municipalities, who then need to justify their need for the purchase, as well as have employees that know how to use that weaponry. You then have police departments hiring people straight out of the military since they know how to use the weaponry, and they have policing experience - although it’s from in a war zone.

What needs to happen is a demilitarization of police departments, mayors/governors that are not afraid to implement changes that will be unpopular with the police force, and a “cooling off” period from hiring those coming out of the military before being able to be hired.
