There are many companies that provide different versions of the service and it's best to research what fits your needs the most.

Think of it like Lawyer insurance. You pay a monthly fee in case you need a lawyer. Most services will talk to cops via phone. Some may even deploy a lawyer to you depending on the situation. If you need a contract reviewed they will do it. If you need a legal letter sent they will do it.

The plan I have has a cap on court time which increases the longer I'm a member. I also get a card that has their number and instructions for any cops that may be detaining or arresting me. It's come in handy from time to time. I've never been arrested, but I've had to deal with cops stepping out of line, shitty landlords, and one time a threat from my cable company. All handled for me. I also have an LLC that that provides some side money. And they help with customer disputes too.

It's a nice peace of mind service to have.
