We've seen massive amounts of evidence of an attempted overthrow of a duly elected US President, with no consequence for the actors involved.

Why would anyone at twatter think that a few censored twats of that same US President would bring any pushback?

Through a petty technicality of ToS. Very obvious it's just because they don't like him and the 4 year temper tantrum over Trump has built confidence in their echo chamber that things like this are ok.
