Sadly, it takes a while to decypher the US political system, for those not born there - for the 27 years I lived there, I didn't vote. I tried to stay out of politics completely. I only had a green card, so I couldn't vote. I'm glad for that, because for that whole time, I really had no clue. Now, if I came back to the US, I would try for my citizenship as quickly as possible - and I think I would be right to do so. It took me half a lifetime to understand all that.

Stopping illegal immigration is a big first step. It will, also, help for people who come in legally by taking so much burden off the court systems and greatly reduce the impact. If the US does regain control of it's borders, then they can be picky about who comes in, and if that means no one, they can do that. I think that voterID and better vetting for citizenship is something that really needs to be done, tbh.
