I live in Virginia. The rule of law here is dead. Governor Northam's sole whim is now the law. His mask mandate has gone into effect, and Virginians are already going at each other's throats. Businesses are already putting up signs that say "no mask, no service," and they will not serve you even if you have a medical condition that exempts you from the order. People are being bullied by their own neighbors for not covering their faces.

A Reopen group in my county was planning a non-mask-compliant event at a business in town today. The organizer had to cancel the event because the owner was being bullied by many of his own customers who have become fear-crazed.

It's become clear that this was the governor's plan all along. No need to send the police to arrest us when we'll be clawed to death by our own neighbors while the health department shuts non-compliant businesses down.

It was such a diabolical move, and I am convinced now that Ralph Northam is a genuinely evil, genuinely malicious man. He can't stop the economy from reopening. He can't arrest everybody. But he can turn us on each other. This order was issued right as Virginia began reopening, and now it makes perfect sense. Of course they won't have any effect on preventing spread of the virus three months into the pandemic. That was never the plan.

The plan was simply to plunge Virginia into chaos. "Comply, or lose your business." People are simply too scared to lose their business now that the state economy is reopening. It would appear we are completely at the mercy of this governor.

I don't know what to do. I'm so sad and tired. I just want to go about my own life in peace.

Florida has a Republican governor. There you go.

HuggableBear 14 points ago +14 / -0

So move there.

Seriously, I'm not being flippant. Move.

If you live in a state where you are outnumbered and it votes blue, the only thing you accomplish by living there and "fighting the good fight" is to give them more seats in congress and thereby more electoral votes.

Leave and move to a state where you will be welcomed and give that state your weight when re-districting time comes. Each congressman represents about 600,000 people. Virginia has 8,000,000. Imagine what would happen if 3,000,000 conservatives up and left and went elsewhere. That's 5 blue electoral votes redistributed to red states.

It may be too late now since the census already went out, but if you are in a red state or a battleground state in 2030, your presence will matter.

It's past time for Atlas to fucking shrug.

I was at a nice Italian place yesterday up in Jax. I’ve got a few left leaning friends who thought I was crazy for doing so. Ay, I ain’t gonna let ‘chicken little fear’ dictate how I live...like I’m the frickin’ Pagemaster or something...

Same in AZ.

I'm guessing rural VA is a lot closer to FL and AZ than wherever OP is.

The lady pede and I visited Pensacola last week for a few days to get some inexpensive beach time. The food and people where great, being Texans it felt like a based vacation.

No masks anywhere except one restraunt where we ate at the last night we where in town.

Disapointed that people here in Texas are still being Karens, and going to lunch yesterday (with a server in a mask) felt a little impersonal.

Tired of all the mask bullshit.

Ron Desantis vs. Coonman Northam - very different men.

"Businesses are already putting up signs that say "no mask, no service," and they will not serve you even if you have a medical condition that exempts you from the order."

This is a violation of the ADA. If you have a disability you do not have to comply and they cannot stop you from entering. Tell them you do have a disability, if they ask about it in any form tell them that is a violation of the ADA. If they still refuse pull out your phone and start recording, starting at the beginning of the conversation. THey will be subjected to a 75K fine and they will pay if you do have a disability. Put the hammer down. Fuck them.

Was just about to mention that it violates ADA to deny business due to medical issue

Do you have legal recourse if you were lying in the first place about having a condition?

Edit: I’m not implying you or op is lying about having a medical condition, but I have heard this suggested before as a catch all and was curious if your bluff gets called if you have legal standing.

catfoodsoup 7 points ago +7 / -0

I'll tell you exactly which medical condition sufferers shouldn't be covering their faces and depriving themselves of oxygen: COVID-19 ones.

If you have this disease, lowering your blood oxygen even more is fatal. If you don't, then you don't need a bloody mask.

The utter irony of all this is infuriating.

Memebomber 3 points ago +3 / -0

No. If you don't have a medical condition at that point you are bluffing only. Me, I get paid

SWVA here - we still have the high ground. I've been pointing out for weeks how these "social distancing" measures are tearing apart the fabric of society by undercutting all basic social courtesies. This is what happens when you stop going outside, stop smiling at your neighbors, stop hugging your friends and stop socializing at church. Fuck Coonman and the heathen Marxist whores he rode in on.

it’s crazy i work at a fast food place and 90% of the people that come in have masks its crazy how different states are acting

I don't have a lot of hope for that. Virginia is a blue state now. They don't flip back. The cognitive dissonance runs too deep. Local elections are the only hope people like me have at this point.

PhilMcKankles 5 points ago +6 / -1

I feel ya man... Every minute I have this mask on my rage grows. I've found myself just openly telling people to fuck off (I'm typically pretty nice/ nonconfrontational), walking around just muttering Fuck Chyna at random passersby as I wander through the maze my grocery store has turned into.
I'm holding out hope that our States will go Red again though (PA did vote Trump last cycle... I'm not sure how we got stuck with Gov DickBag and his Bulldyke Health Secretary). Most likely was due to fraud in Philly and Pittsburgh. It's (the mail in fraud) getting a lot of press at this point though...despite how much they are attempting to brush it off, and If the next election gets enough scrutiny (and fraud is able to be kept to a minimum), I don't think it will be as close as you fear.

2
Oculument 2 points ago +2 / -0

PA now has Gov Dickbag and a tranny health secretary because the last so-called republican governor was a ball-less bitch that joined the dogpile against Joe Paterno. Republican voters stayed home or refused to vote the governor ballot rather than than vote for that backstabbing shitstain.

California says welcome to the party.

For months now I have been forced to wear a mask when going outside or be ticketed by police...but they are not nearly as much a threat to me as the rabid Karens that wander my neighborhood looking to assault freedom-loving people.

2
Berkeley 2 points ago +2 / -0

I always go outside without any mask. I social distance though. No problems here. Where in CA are you?

2
Ghostphaez 2 points ago +2 / -0

Smack dab in the middle of Hollywood.

2
Berkeley 2 points ago +2 / -0

Ah...in the Bay Area, they are pretty nice about it. There is no requirement that you must wear a mask outside. While some businesses say you must where a mask, you can enter without one and be served. They just say "Next time, please come in with a mask, or put your shirt over your nose". Just be friendly. The only thing is being in a large group and not social distancing. And even then, the police will just say, "Hey guys, just be careful, please don't do that. We don't want to have to ticket you". And they leave after that.

LA always has to be a special snowflake.

dukeofdoorcounty 13 points ago +13 / -0

The Karens will stay in the blue states and patriots will move. Being a free thinker in a blue state is starting to become like being jew in 1939 Germany. This will lead to more polarization and eventually the county splitting.

By doing this he has signaled to Virginians that he is in up to his empty ballsack on the side of Soros and the rest of the swamp goons. He is betraying the people of Virginia. Virginia needs help to survive the coming wave of vote fraud...having removed the voter ID law. They never intend to stop.

And I don't expect this state's "right to work" status to remain in place for much longer.

It's because of the cancerous Federal government. They become Commies who want to sustain their paycheck collection service.

4
rebelde_sin_causa 4 points ago +4 / -0

Indeed. A majority of native Virginians never would have voted for this

Bold move on his part. And risky. Might not work out at the ballot box.

But if it does, then that's what the people want

When a state degenerates, it's better to get out

2
CitizenPlain 2 points ago +2 / -0

Who is voting this guy in and why? How much voter fraud is there?

8
NocturnalPatrol [S] 8 points ago +8 / -0

Virginia is a sparsely populated, very rural state. The population centers are impenetrably blue, so it doesn't matter what I think, because I get no representation. Now felons can vote, and the voter ID law was repealed, which means illegal aliens can vote.

This state is lost.

Border counties are gonna see so much money go into the next state. I live just over the border from tenn and will take all of my business there. This is not about health.
