This sounds weird, from what I understand:
HK protesters last year: "We don't want One Country/Two systems!";
Beijing imposed a national security law on HK;
HK: "they are ending the 2-systems! We want it back!";
US: "No special treatment for HK. It's just one system one country now"
HK:" thank you US! that's what we want!"
HKer now stuck with worse economy/job prospective, which started the protest in the first place last year.

China wants to end it. US confirmed it. HK protesters (on reddit at least) seem to likes US's confirmation. Everyone is happy now, right?
