Minnesota's duty to retreat law doesn't afford him the ability to shoot someone for destroying his store. Only in the home. The guy was allegedly found dead outside the store, so the evidence doesn't point to self-defense. The duty to retreat law simply says you've got to flee if possible and deadly force can only be used as a last resort. Minnesota has no castle doctrine laws on the books but...

Minnesota appeals court State vs. Glowaki said in that “a person should not be required to retreat from the home before using reasonable force to defend himself, regardless of whether the aggressor is rightfully in the home” and that there is “no duty to retreat from one’s own home when acting in self-defense … regardless of whether the aggressor is a co-resident.”

People need to own firearms and practice their 2nd Amendment rights, but to be a responsible gun owner you need to know when it is legal to discharge a firearm and under what circumstances in your specific state.

If a few raging asshole come into your place of business, I am sure you would feel that you are in immediate danger. It’s like Bernie Goetz, your dead, I’m alive, fuck you.

That's for a court to decide, not for us! I'm just stating the law.

POTUS should pass an executive order mandating that insurance companies are responsible for paying out during riots in an election year, regardless of what their contract says.

If the insurance companies have to choose between paying out millions or billions or putting pressure on local officials, I know which way they will go.

Celebrities can have second homes. I'd just declare it a second residence. Given the amount of time many small business owners put in, many of them do live at their shop more than they do at home.

So it's like the opposite of stand-your-ground? What a bunch of pussies.

Minnesota and other duty to retreat states should have those laws stricken as unconstitutional. The founding fathers would be putting officials and judges that wrote and uphold these in jail at the very least.
