What's left out of the headline paints a bigger picture: his employees, not him directly, had say in who they rented to. He also came to a no-fault settlement with the DOJ over it. If he was obviously at fault, wouldn't they pursue it further, or was the evidence weak enough that it wasn't worth their time? Frivolous lawsuits happen all the time, especially for targets with deep pockets.
Other questions that come to mind: if Trump is racist, then why did he leave the reform party in 2000? Or condemn white supremacists and Nazis when discussing Charlottesville? Or do anything that could actually help blacks unfairly treated by the justice system using the FIRST step act? Or posthumously pardon Jack Johnson when Obama had 8 years to do it?
