The few major metropolises that flirt R occasionally all have a strong co-factor. "So Democrat no one could take 'running as an R' as anything other than 'I lost the D primary, but that guy's an idiot' " or a nearby major, major military facility, or an in-effect suburb of a more 'urban' city.

Coming back to your point. Every one of the presses top "problems living in America" are Democrat problems The rent is not too-damn-high because of the farmers.
