This was my novelty politics account for about five years up to the 2016 DNC convention. The sub changed hands that night.
My pet theory is reddit set up VIP access relationships during Ellen Pao's time to monetize the platform. Politics purchased outright.
The sub was always a toxic mess. I could argue points I disagree with or field test nonsense ideas to shake out what assumptions held up and which fell apart, learning. After the handover that sort of conversation was met only with name calling. No more useful conversation or argument. Learning came to an end. All the accounts I'd tagged over the years migrated to new subs, T_D among others.
r/politics hasn't been shut down because it brings in a fuckton of "gold" revenue for reddit, change my mind.
Politics is still there because it pushes their agenda. Half the gold is probably fake.
One of the admins literally admitted that they can put as much gold on a post as they want for free in order to boost the post
If you're right then the other half is real. Regardless their cause benefits.
They probably get more money from shariablue...or maybe they are the cucks buying all the gold.
Mhm.

They gave away our ability to give gold on The_Donald too years ago!
