No, the people attacking cops are agitators. They want to stress out and overwhelm the cops so they get fed up and make a mistake. That mistake will be broadcast all over the media in an instant, further igniting normal people to join in on the violence.

Police are out in force now but it's too late. The mobs are already in too many places and they can't lock them down. Trump just released the guard though so this will be settled in a day or two. As to the cops most have to do as their corrupt chiefs tell them and in any group of cops there will be a few with no quibbles about overreach. I still think the overwhelming majority of cops are honest and want to protect.
They need to protect the people that have their back, not the ones torching their cars and communities.
