I work at Scottsdale Fashion Square. I stayed as long as I could but had to evacuate. So sad to see my mall get stormed by these piece of shit thugs. Not a single protest occurred in Scottsdale, this was a planned attack! I just hope I have a place to work at tomorrow.
I've been to that mall. It's beautiful and very high-end. I'm so sorry that happened to you. You were there when they broke in? If you feel like writing up what happened, I'll sure read it and I'm sure many here would be very interested as well.
Thanks! There is some things I can't go into as lots of things are still under investigation. Basically we were notified of tons of social media traffic naming our mall specifically. We put a plan in place and decided to close early at 5pm. We did capture some of the rioters parking in their personal vehicles and got plates that we forwarded to PD. Police were stationed around the mall, however they were quickly overrun. About 100 stormed the Dicks parking lot from Scottsdale road, they circled the property, some armed with crowbars and rifles, attempting to smash through glass doors. Once the first group circled the property, damaging and vandalizing all the way, several hundred others joined it. The bulk of the gathering was on Scottsdale road where the Apple store is located. Zero police action gave the rioters time to smash through the Apple store, then through the interior doors and that's how the bulk of them got into the mall. They smashed several other of our glass doors and were in the mall for about 4 hours. Many storefronts were smashed and we had a lot of looting. Luckily the high end stores pulled merch or placed them in safes. I stayed until 10:15 pm, after that I had to run to my personal vehicle and we evacuated. It was scary running through the mall by myself, but we all made it out safe.
Although millions and millions of dollars were lost, it could have been a lot worse. Far as I know there weren't any attempts to burn the place down, which is what I thought would happen.
