Here we have the old and the new. One on the top I inherited. I've had a while but never shot it and I don't think it's really ever been used.

I bought the one on the bottom yesterday. Ended up not getting AR, but I still think this will be sweet and I'll get an AR later. I've never shot much so I'm going to get some training and a lot of range practice. Also looking forward to loading it up with cool stuff, starting with a scope that I'll definitely need.

.22 is a great survival gun. Jugs of 500+ rounds for $20? Yes please.

Yeah, I know how I am too--if I get into guns fully I'd never just want one kind of gun anyway. If I had gotten a .22 AR at some point I'd want a 5.56. Then I'd want a bolt action, or a shotgun, or an AK, or something else anyway. The .22 ARs seem hard to find or marked up right now too. This will be perfect for the start.

Great purchase! Is that a 10/22? You will be very satisfied with it.

Quick suggestion - if you have it in your budget to get yourself an AR, I would recommend getting one ASAP before the left makes them unavailable. If you don't feel comfortable with it, just lock it up in your attic until you change your mind. Better to have it than not. If worst comes to worst, you can always sell it on the black market once it is banned and make a killer profit.

It's a Ruger Precision Rimfire .22WMR, so bolt-action. I just had the bolt out so it would lay down for picture purposes. I had the magazine loaded up too, and I'm still a bit finicky and didn't want to be sitting it around with fully cocked and ready to go. Even though I know the safety is on and they don't just shoot themselves, I just took the bolt out for caution.

I will still have my eye out for an AR pretty soon. They had a S&W 5.56 one I looked at but held off for now. Definitely want to try to get one sooner rather than later.

I'll check it out when the time comes. Always open to look at different things.

Yep, I was all thinking semi-auto at first but for what I really want to do this seemed like it would offer me everything I wanted and perhaps even be geared more towards the type of shooting I'd be most interested in too. Also, still has a ton of the cool factor.

Yes, it's .22 WMR. I don't know a ton about comparing the different types of rounds just yet, but I've seen it down near .20 cents/rd too. I'll just have to see as I go and learn and try different rounds.

I’m so sad as a convicted felon, I have fought tooth and nail to turn my entire life around to be a productive citizen. Now I’m still not allowed to defend myself by owning a firearm...

I'm in the same boat. If you move to Texas you can have one in your house after ten years. I do.

It may be 5 years actually

Yeah it seems there's way too much trying to give out lifetime punishment for crimes that don't deserve it. It's impossible to get traction to reform that either because a huge amount of people just see them as criminals and don't care. I've got nothing but respect for felons that have turned their life around. All it tells me is they were not lazy and were willing to put in the work to have a good life despite roadblocks in their way. That's a lot more character than I see in a ton of the populace.

ahh 22WMR

I see youre planning to put squirrel sized holes in squirrels

2
cccpneveragain [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

Haha, I found it a bit funny that the ammo I bought with it has a squirrel symbol on it. I'm no expert by any means just seems like a little much for a squirrel myself.

I'm just going to range/target shoot but the Karens on Nextdoor have been whining about all the squirrels lately and asking how to trap them. I bet they would be pissed if I were to go out and shoot a few of them though.

Do you know what finish is on that wood furniture? Is that a traditional hand rubbed oil finish?

3
cccpneveragain [S] 3 points ago +3 / -0

I don't really. It's a pretty standard early 70s Model 94. Not one of the super valuable ones but its Made in USA, as I understand they started making elsewhere at some point. It just looks like a matte finish you'd find on a nice piece of house furniture to me

It looks great!

Support your local, independent gun shop. Fuck Walmart.

Fiscal22 4 points ago +4 / -0

okay I'll look into that.

cccpneveragain [S] 5 points ago +5 / -0

I went to a local gun store. Didn't shop around a ton in person but I'd looked around online a lot to learn. Got a good price too, there's no reason to go to a place like Walmart.

nice shotgun. Love the rifle man trigger. Brings back good memories.

cccpneveragain [S] 6 points ago +6 / -0

I probably should have said what they are. No shotgun. Top is a Winchester Model 94 .30-30 lever action rifle, close to 50 years old. Bottom is a Ruger .22WMR bolt action. Still both very cool though.

BLACK GUN SCARY. BLACK GUN BAD!!!! REEEEEEE!!!! ASSAULT RIFLE FULLY SEMI-AUTOMATIC!!!!

lol good buys though.

cccpneveragain [S] 5 points ago +5 / -0

Haha, I was thinking yesterday how funny it is that the gun haters would go nuts about the new gun especially after I've added some accessories to it. Yet the most powerful gun is actually the plain old lever action rifle they would think is totally fine.

Liberals and leftists know nothing about guns. It’s scary to think that these people who are clueless about firearms get to make decisions about firearms.

That’s like me, with no doctors experience, trying to diagnose and treat a lump on someone’s neck. “Is it cancer?” “Uhhhhh, I dunno, might be”.
