There is a reason that these rioters have been exclusively in urban centers. The rate of legal gun ownership in downtown areas is approaching zero. The population therefore is reliant on cops/government for their safety. The properties at risk are stores and business that are likely insured, and very few homes.
If these rioters start heading into the suburbs and rural areas, then we will see exactly what happens when thugs with bricks encounter a non-retreating homeowner with an AR-15.

Well the riots are in public areas for the most part, but if the rioters start going in neighborhoods and breaking into people's houses, they will get shot. And I mean really shot. You can act like a wild animal thug as long as you dont threaten my immediate family and neighbors The police/military will handle you. But the second they do, its gloves off.

There is a computer/video game out there known as Prison Architect, where you build and manage a prison. One thing I have learned from that game is that even the loudest and rowdiest thugs and criminals tend to surrender or give up FAST when you get a few shot-gunners to fire in their direction.
Maybe this part of the game has some basis in real life...
It'd be cool if there was a multiplayer where you could release your prisoners for good behavior and we could make bets to see how long before he'd end up in my prison. Then the winner can build cool stuff like 3 Strike Laws or Stand Your Ground.

You don’t have a lot of time to fight in prison because the guards will step in within 5-10 minutes or so. If you have a problem with someone, you microwave a cup of water, throw it in their face and then start bombing on them. No talking.

There is multiplayer though you are on the same 'team' and you do release your prisoners either on parole or on time and it tracks what percentage end up back in prison.

Look cops aren't perfect, and the shitty ones deserve to be outed and arrested if they break the law. But plenty of these fuckers out there rioting weren't even alive or seem to have completely forgotton when it was NYPD and FDNY running into the buildings to save people after the largest terrorist attack in US history. When a few cops fuck up, suddenly they're all white supremacists, but when dozens of muslims fly planes into buildings it's not all muslims.
