I guess you could say we're currently in a "winter" of sorts. But after winter comes the spring. Likely we'll come out of this in a new American Renaissance and do some pretty amazing things. But new generations will be born that don't have the same emotional attachments and priorities we do. They will forget. And the cycle will repeat again. It is, unfortunately, part of being human. The best we can do is teach our children what to prioritize and what to respect.
I guess you could say that peace has to be "re-taught" to humanity every century or so. Nothing we do will be permanent, and the communists will be back. But we can sure as hell do everything we can to make sure those who come after are ready for the next time. We do still admire the work of the founders after all.
