I'm probably preaching the choir here, but what I'd like to see is Trump ask for air time and make a 10 minute plea for these protests to be rightward (asking for less government) instead of leftward (asking for more equality).

Here's what I'd like to see:

  1. Start off with acknowledging that some people out there feel like cops are targeting non-whites. Point out that Indians (less than 1% minority) and Asians (less than 6% minority) or Jewish (under 2%) could also be considered non-white but do not, by and large, harbor that same kind of worldview. Mention that, to the degree that cops are actually targeting blacks and Latinos everyone, including and especially other cops and himself, is against it. Unequivocally and unwavering, and if the record here isn't clear, it should be cleared up now.

  2. Acknowledge that trying to fight against what you perceive as injustice is a worthy goal, one which has almost universal support. Especially if you see it targeting you, your family, your community. And injustices are un-American and have no place in Trump's America, just like they are abhorred by the people they voted for. So, how is it that George Floyd still occurred in a Democrat city, with a Democrat chief of police, in a Democrat district, of a Democrat State, with a Democrat Attorney General and Democrat Governor? These people didn't just come to power yesterday, they've been in power for decades. The answer here is that although it seemed like you guys were on the same side, there was a subtle difference between what you want and what they want. That difference has always been there.

  3. Tell them not to get the wrong idea, here. This is not a plea for their vote, actually it is not even asking for political leeway. If you think that Democrats that gave you 2020 Minneapolis are worth while, then maybe the next few months will change your mind. Or, maybe they won't, in which case, you should 100% vote your conscience. The actual plea is to kick out the leftist element that doesn't have your best interest in mind; they're not on your side, they're on a side only tangentially aligned with your goals. Your problem is that you invited the vampires in, they told you that only by demanding broadly leftist tenets could you get to where you wanted and you believed them! Now, you have protests and they turn violent because people who feteshize having a Marxist revolution join it.

  4. Kick that element out and another one will arise; this new one will champion smaller government, an end to the war on drugs, an cap on reckless government spending that necessitates criminalizing regular behavior so that it can be fined, an end to regulations of your time and property, one that champions family and personal responsibility as the answer. It is not a given that a minority must align itself with angry leftist revolution, even while it overwhelmingly votes left. That is true of the Indians, Asians, and Jews from point one.

I agree with that maxim, I'm suggesting going around the terrorists and bargaining with the hostages. I'm saying they're only hostages because they chose it.
