I’m all for supporting local businesses but do also pay attention to your wallet and use sources like gun.deals (no .com or anything) and r/Gundeals (one of the last remaining good subreddits). I support my Local Gun Store (LGS) with range time, occasional ammo purchases, some random gun buys but other than that I try to buy all online.

For example, when I bought my AR556 it was for sale at the LGS for $799 but I bought it online for $467. With that over $330 savings, I bought a 9mm Shield M&P2.0 and had enough left over that I bought a holster for it. I basically got two guns and a holster for what one would have cost me just the rifle at the LGS. I like to support it; but if the decision is either support them and get basically another gun with the savings, I’m picking 2 guns every time.

Plus, about 80% of the posted deals are coming from small time gun stores/family owned stores, so don’t feel bad for not buying a firearm from your LGS as you still are supporting a small business, just elsewhere, plus your LGS will still make a little bit off you because they will need to act as your FFL.
