But this model is never perfect or complete. From the day you are born to the day you die, unexpected things happen. These unexpected and unknown things are your model failing. The errors need to be processed and your model updated to incorporate these errors.
Ideological fervor completely breaks this process because ideology necessarily presupposes a set model that cannot be wrong. So instead of changing the model to fit reality, you find ways to contort your understanding of reality to fit the unchangeable model. And the more you do it, the bigger the modeling error grows and the more you have to contort reality until you are living in an unpredictable world that doesn't make any sense.
And of course it wouldn't make sense. The primary mechanism by which you make sense of the world is completely hijacked and irredeemably broken.
That is also why you have safe-spaces. People cannot live in a dissonant, completely unpredictable reality that makes no sense and thus makes them feel insane. They need a place where their broken ideological model of reality makes sense by keeping out all the bits that don't fit.
And also why, when ideology comes to power, the parts of reality that don't fit into the ideological model are cut out and excised. It doesn't work like that, of course, because reality is like a hologram - if you cut off pieces of reality by killing 100 million people, it still remains the whole of reality.
