My 94 year old grandmother lives near Wheaton, IL and the rioters are there now. The road they are near is right near her neighborhood. As well as Lombard and Bloomingdale near where my mother is. They both live alone. I’m scared to death for them. I’m not close enough to them to protect them. I posted this in another thread but I didn’t get any responses. Guess I’m just hoping for reassurance. Haven’t slept in 2 days.

Do they have good neighbors?

My mother does. She has friends in the area. My grandmother does as well but I don’t know how many of them could help if they get close to her. Hoping they could.

Have you been able to get hold of them?

Yes, so far they are ok. But neither of them have guns. So I’m pretty scared.

Well, it's Chicago and they're law-abiding citizens, so naturally they don't have guns. Chicago sucks!

Praying for you and your family, pede. Maybe make a plan to get them out of there tomorrow and have them come stay with you for a few days.

Thanks. Just talked to them. They are both at the 94 year olds home right now. Mother is buying a gun ASAP now. Told them they’re welcome here too, but so far they are ok.

MajorAppleHead has the best suggestion. If they have trusted neighbors and it starts to get dicey, they need to ask if someone will stay with them until it is over.

Unless they have flashy cars or fancy houses, they should be fine.

Ty. They dont have huge houses or anything but the neighborhood does. That’s why I’m worried. Been in touch though...so far so good.

They (and you) are in our thoughts...

Reach out to them as often as you can. If you have friends or relatives that live near by, reach out to them as well. Perhaps one of them can check in on them. Prayers are with you and your Grandmother.

Without gettin’ them worked up, think about an escape plan. Going into the basement, if there is one, is not a good idea as they’d be trapped. Have a phone, flashlight and plan ready to go out a back door. Keep the lights off, doors locked and the shades pulled down.

If they have any loose furniture out front it should be pulled into a garage along with the car.

They’ll be fine.

Thanks pede. They are doing just that right now. All of the prayers have made me feel so much better.
