If we hold out too much longer, I'll be making arguments for full auto- and a complete re-think of the NFA.
Hell, I'm already looking for something belt-fed and crew-served so my daughter can join in.
VLTOR had semi-auto PKM's complete with all the accessories (belts, tripods etc) a while back. Really wish I had bagged one.

There's no reason cans or sbr or sbs should be regulated more heavily at all and no reason new FA weapons shouldn't be purchasable legally.

It's the "Inevitable Bureaucracy, Paperwork, Karens" etc, not the actual "Full Auto" that's key.
The problem with the Income Tax isn't the "Paying" part, it's the "Fill in the paperwork effectively under oath, ad nauseam, in ways we can ding you with if you irritating us enough."
I don’t want full auto. I would just like to have three burst round on the selector switch.
