Mods can we get a sticky for this? We should make more pedes aware so that the autists can find and record copies of these calls for violence for the police, feds, Secret Service, etc.

I'm seeing others say this isn't about the Washington Monument, but just to be clear: if it is, and that monument comes down, I will consider that an act of war and will take the long-ass drive down to DC (hopefully others would too because I'd kinda look like a jackass going at it alone)

9
TrumpsThrowaway 9 points ago +10 / -1

I thought it was just her talking about how to take down any statue or monument using "obelisk" as dumb code (being an Egyptologist and all). Made more sense than believing she literally wanted the Washington Monument brought down, but maybe I'm giving these people way too much credit

25
ChrisTheSoberITGuy 25 points ago +26 / -1

Yeah she's literally retarded and thinks the washington monument is stone, not reinforced concreate with a steel core structure.

Liberalism is a mental disorder that eats away at the last brain cells they have.

She also vastly underestimated the size of it and had to backpedal

6

Yet this is the idiot telling them shes an expert on pulling down the Washington Monument. Her stupidity is going to get people killed.

6
JudgeWhoAllowsStuff 6 points ago +6 / -0

Her.. monumental stupidity.

4
ClownTamer 4 points ago +4 / -0

Her qualifying herself as an expert is the funniest part. “I’m an expert on Egypt, specializing in Obelisks.” Did she specialize in myths about architecture of something? Pretty much any competent architect could have read that and thought “yeah, I don’t think she even bothered to Google the dimensions of the monument. She has built or torn down nothing.”

She threw out numbers trying to convey ‘smartitude’, but she basically just said “if you somehow threw GIANT CHAINs over the top of the FUCKING WASHINGTON MONUMENT and pulled REALLY HARD with a SHITTON OF PEOPLE, maybe it’d come down.” Where the fuck are rioter folks going to get thousand foot chains, and how are they going to get it over the top of a fucking spike shaped monument?

Some are just opportunists or along for the ride, but absolutely, these are staged and planned, and as Bongino said this morning, an insurrection and a coup. There are forces at work looking to destroy the country from within and overthrow the current administration, and then there are the useful idiots/sheep larping as resistance revolutionaries that are salivating at the prospect of roleplaying out their fantasies

Hell yeah, only suckers play it fair while their opponents keep hitting below the belt. Fight fire with fire!

Not to mention, she’s advocating for a criminal act. Cancel culture is about ruining people’s lives for just having a completely normal opinion (Mario Lopez saying he doesn’t think kids should have gender reassignment at like 5 years old, etc)

1
DibbleDibbleDibble 1 point ago +1 / -0

While it isn't a flourishing field as it once was due to many Ancient Egyptian sites already being uncovered, Egyptology is a real thing. It's okay to be a specialist in archaeology. My daughter wants to be an Egyptologist when she grows up, and I encourage her in that. She'll probably change her mind and choose something more practical as she gets older, but for now I am happy that she's interested in learning and in ancient cultures.

What is true of this professor is that she's a dipshit and a tool, who is using her platform to forward her regressive ideology. These are the exact kind of people that you don't want in charge of writing about history. We shouldn't dissuade conservatives from getting into history, we need more of them so that our history, culture, and patrimony isn't erased or warped into something that it isn't.

It's a valid profession and line of study.

The pyramids are over 10 years old. We need to get to where people start openly admitting that, and not trying to attach it to people only 2 thousand years ago. That starts with copious amounts of people getting into that line of study.

It's time to enforce the law. This is no longer a political matter. It's about law enforcement. You break the law you get taken down. No excuses. No lenience. No free passes. Start at the top and make arrests. It now or never.

2

0
SirPokeSmottington 0 points ago +1 / -1

Why not both?

I am a fairly strict constitutionalist. I don't believe in mob rule.

It's obvious she's a stupid woman, but I don't think she should lose her job because the uni is scared of a mob. However, if the FBI contacts them and says she is dangerous, that's a different matter.

4
Long_time_lurker 4 points ago +4 / -0

I don't think it's "cancel culture" to call people out on literal crimes, like incitement.

This isn't going after someone for wrongthink, it's going after someone shouting instructions to a violent mob.

2

I think this "egyptologist" must be an idiotologist. With the sheer size of the monument imagine how much attention just trying to get something like this set up would get. They'd get arrested before they even finished step 1.

4
InTheArmsOfThePepe 4 points ago +5 / -1

In addition to working as an archaeologist, she’s a professor, author, Egyptologist and remote sensing expert, who has used satellite imaging to identify potential archaeological sites in Egypt, Rome, and elsewhere in the former Roman Empire.

A "remote sensing expert" eh? So the next time I can't find the ole channel changer for the telly, I can give her a call?

4
Brock_the_Bard 4 points ago +5 / -1

I doubt she originally intended these statements for the Washington Monument. Instead, I believe she was referring to the Confederate Soldiers and Sailors Monument in Birmingham's Linn Park. This monument has been the subject of controversy over the past few years and is a more likely target.

Don't get me wrong, she is a dirtbag and should be fired/prosecuted, but the Washington Monument thing might be fake news.

-1
chieflemons [S] -1 points ago +1 / -2

No, she ended the tweet by saying sarcastically that they should bring down the Washington Monument. It's exactly what she wants.

4
Brock_the_Bard 4 points ago +4 / -0

I respectfully disagree. She advises the rioters to stand 30ft away from the monument to avoid being crushed; this distance would not be far enough for a 500ft tall obelisk (i.e., the Washington Monument), but may work for a 50ft obelisk (i.e., the Confederate Soldiers and Sailors Monument).

Based on her correlation between vandals needed and obelisk height, you would need over 1000 rioters to topple the Washington Monument.

Connecting the Washington Monument to muh racism would be a feat of mental gymnastics impressive by even liberal standards. However, the confederate monument already has this controversy.

She specifically mentions Birmingham, where the Confederate Soldiers and Sailors monument resides.

If anything, I think her Washington Monument tweet was an afterthought. She may love to see it fall, like many america-hating liberals, but it is not her intended target.

Let's not fall into the trap of sensationalism and exaggeration like the leftists and fake news media do. We're better than them!

3
dahdahdah_dahditdah 3 points ago +3 / -0

As many have observed, Antifa is ISIS. There is not much difference between tearing down historical American statues and tearing down ancient Egyptian structures. In both cases it's a modern liberal idiot who wants to tear down and remake society after their own snowflake image, an image which just emerged in the last 5 minutes and will change again in another 5 minutes.

2
Conservativechick 2 points ago +2 / -0

Where does this person work? We need to get her fired.

4
Long_time_lurker 4 points ago +4 / -0

University of Alabama at Birmingham. Just search for her name, it's easy to find, she's a professor of Egyptology or something.

-5
SirPokeSmottington -5 points ago +2 / -7

We need to get her fired.

You're advocating cancel culture?

That involves any time in the future, anything you did in the past, can come back to haunt you.

The first thing you're going to say is, I've never done anything that would warrant that. But that's not how cancel culture works. It's not in your eyes, it's in THEIR eyes.

5
Long_time_lurker 5 points ago +5 / -0

This isn't going after wrongthink, this is going after someone shouting orders to a violent mob. That's a crime.

Cancel culture is about going after people who have merely exercised their first amendment rights. Incitement is not covered by free speech, it's one of the categories of unprotected speech.

0
SirPokeSmottington 0 points ago +2 / -2

Incitement is not covered by free speech, it's one of the categories of unprotected speech.

I've written a few articles on this very subject.

You are require to satisfy two important questions to claim it is incitement, and it doesn't rise to that level. It is called the Brandenburg test.

https://www.mtsu.edu/first-amendment/article/970/incitement-to-imminent-lawless-action

Brandenburg v. Ohio (1969) https://mtsu.edu/first-amendment/article/189/brandenburg-v-ohio

https://www.law.cornell.edu/wex/brandenburg_test

Hess v. Indiana (1973) https://www.oyez.org/cases/1973/73-5290

You should read those. They are interesting.

Remember, rights and liberties come first. It is her right to be stupid. We cannot use the benchmark of someone said something, and someone did something as a result, so the person that said something, is at fault (always).

1
Long_time_lurker 1 point ago +1 / -0

For starters, let's agree on something. I believe that we agree that this is the correct test for incitement and it is correctly cited here. I'll also say that I'm not trying to call for any new exceptions to the first amendment here.

Anyhow, the two prongs of the Brandenburg test are these:

The speech is “directed to inciting or producing imminent lawless action,” AND

This speech was advising rioters who are actually rioting and who have tried already to destroy a particular statue on how to do so successfully.

The speech is “likely to incite or produce such action.”

They attacked the monument both nights. It wasn't merely "likely" to produce such action, it was directed towards helping people actually doing that action.

So... I have a hard time seeing how it doesn't meet the incitement standard. She was directing rioters on how to commit crimes during a riot. I'm sure there are plenty of items to quibble with there, like did the protesters actually listen to her or maybe they didn't have ropes so it doesn't count?

But this was clearly intended as a post inciting lawless action directed at an unlawful riot, so I believe that she should have to make that sort of argument via her lawyer, from the defendant's chair in court.

I can see how a reasonable person might differ, maybe they don't think there's enough of a connection between her and the rioters or maybe they think the rioters were going to do that anyway or what have you. But I personally see this as rising to the standard of incitement.

She was directing rioters towards targets. Legal minutia aside, this is exactly the sort of speech the incitement exception is intended to target.

1
Long_time_lurker 1 point ago +1 / -0

Also, for the second prong, we can point to this happening a mere 30 minutes later:

https://twitter.com/CharlieSigs/status/1267336627703119873

That certainly seems like incitement to immanent lawless action to me. UAB should be made to answer whether or not they will support this.

1
Long_time_lurker 1 point ago +1 / -0

Lastly, it sure looks like they should have the ability to tack on some other charges here, e.g. 18 U.S.C § 2101 -

https://uncoverdc.com/2020/06/01/president-trump-declares-antifa-a-terrorist-organization/

1
SirPokeSmottington 1 point ago +1 / -0

So... I have a hard time seeing how it doesn't meet the incitement standard.

Did you read the Brandenburg v. Ohio (1969) ? He literally stood in front of a group of clan members with inflammatory speech, and had his case overturned.

1
Long_time_lurker 1 point ago +1 / -0

This lady directed them to destroy specific things and they acted on it within 30 minutes.

That sounds a lot more immanent and lawless to me than the facts in Brandenburg, where he merely said a bunch of racist things to KKK members and spoke vaguely about "revengeance" against persons unclear, without any specific target or any riot going on.

Now, you have a point that we might have to establish that some of those who participated in this listened to her, but that's a factual question that should be investigated by the police.

The fact that someone is intentionally directing rioters to do a specific illegal thing during a lawless riot and this lawless act is performed should be more than enough to investigate her for incitement.

4
Staatssicherheit 4 points ago +4 / -0

No, I believe in jail time for terroristic threats against the Washington Monument. Getting her fired is a consequence of her illegal actions.

3
Oculument 3 points ago +3 / -0

You may not believe in cancel culture, but cancel culture believes in you.

You don't get to fight the war you want, fight back or get run over.

You don't get to fight the war you want, fight back or get run over.

We are not the left, we should not adopt their mentality.

Mob rule is bad, eventually it will turn on YOU.

I am not advocating not fighting back. I am advocating, using brains instead of emotion.

Need to call someone? Call the FBI.

1
Long_time_lurker 1 point ago +1 / -0

Given that Wray is still in charge, I question how effective they will be.

By all means, try--the FBI is a big organization--but I just don't see them being very effective here when Wray & Boente have worked long and hard as resistance operatives, e.g. by hiding exculpatory info on Flynn and covering up Spygate in general.

At least we got rid of Boente recently. Wray can't pack his desk fast enough to suit me, though.

1
tommichael522 1 point ago +1 / -0

Not digging up her past, diggin up her encouragement of terrorist activity this week. If she were ISIS wouldnt we report her?

-1
SirPokeSmottington -1 points ago +1 / -2

If she were ISIS wouldnt we report her?

You have to agree, that's a strawman. Because she's not.

Stupid liberal woman doth not an ISIS make.

I support more you reporting her to the FBI, than mobs calling on her to be fired.

The FBI will determine if the speech rises to the level of crime (It won't per the Brandenberg test) and then if they charge her, her employer will probably hear about it, and can decide then.

Mob rule is a bad idea. Eventually they will come for you.

2
Throwaway_Test 2 points ago +2 / -0

I am outing myself a bit, but here goes. I reside in the greater Birmingham area, and I have been following the insanity going on here since last night. As others have noted in other topics, there has been a fair amount of violence and destruction, largely concentrated in downtown Birmingham. Located there is a small space, Linn Park, about a city block in size. In that park are several monuments, but two of them have been the focus of the mob's hatred: the statue of Charles Linn and the an obelisk atop a base that serves a tribute to Confederate military. The statue of Linn, a city father and Confederate veteran, is relatively small and was torn down by the mob at maybe around 10 p.m. last night. For several years, the obelisk has been the target of leftists, anti-white racists, commies, and similar vermin. A few years ago, during the national purging of all acknowledgments of anything having to do white European extraction, that very contagion made its way here. The loser mayor enclosed the monument in a sort of sarcophagus made of exceptionally thick and heavy plywood - not the kind you can find at your local home improvement store. He could not remove the monument as the state legislature made such acts illegal as a response such hatred. There were many times that I wanted to go down there and tear off the enclosure, but of course people like myself could not get away with it. In contrast we now have the mob that attacked the city last night. They operated with impunity since the "mayor" is on their side and withheld police intervention. He is useless, contemptible trash. So the mob proceeded to tear off the plywood enclosure and do all it could to tear down the monument, but it proved too large and sturdy for them. Instead, they settled for defacing it and hacking away at it with hammers. This was so evil and shameful. I really wanted to show up with a flamethrower and "persuade" them to leave. I first learned of Parcak through this site. It is clear that she is referring to the Confederate monument - she is at UAB, she issued her statements the same day as the attacks occurred, and the monument is an obelisk! These are not coincidences. Pushing for her firing is not "cancel culture". Free speech is not total and absolute. Parcak should be forced to answer for her part in this, as should everyone in the mob and all those that enabled them and coordinated the riots.

Why do people keep saying Washington monument on this site when she is talking about some other monument in Alabama.
