That 50 state experiment showed the failure of Democratic leadership and the success of GOP leadership.

This is a completely different situation. I trust Trump's instincts and am sure he considered counsel from competent advisors before making his decision. We don't know how far he'll push it, but this could be a complete success or go ass up.

I'm hoping that a show of force will dissuade rioters with no shots fired. I hope US troops are deployed to back up local cops for intimidation purposes and exercise restraint.

I've been behind enemy lines watching CNN for the past couple hours, and they are predicting another Kent State.

Thoughts? I'm not looking for unqualified support for Trump's decision, as this decision will set a precedent for future Presidents.

Thanks in advance.

Another Kent State? Nope. That was a peaceful protest, the Nat Guard got spooked by what they thought was gunfire. I was about 12 when it happened, other Pedes may remember far more about it than me.

Invoking the Insurrection Act is the right way to go here, to root out the violent protesters. What is happening now took a lot of planning and money, people are crossing state lines and this may also be supported by international actors and funds. The goal is to overwhelm and destabilize the country. Someone will know the law much better than me, what tools/powers invoking this allows. This weekend reminded me of Weather Underground and the Chicago Seven.
